P800 locked due to startup video

hI there

New to the forum so hope I am in the right place.
I loaded a new startup MP4 to my sys folder to replace the standard one, unfortunately it causes a problem and will not allow the phone to start up and instead produces the 10 second re-boot message.

As I cannot get into the phone to change anything I am out of ideas, anyony had this problem? can the unit be flashed with the USB port?

Any help greatly appreciated

Exclamation unlucky... bad move ;) test first!

yo gaz,

doesn't seem to be much you can do! you should of put the .mp4's onto your phone first, then used SMan or something to open them and check if they work, because then you'd know if they would screw up or not.

Also SHOULD of got a *** to mp4 converter, and made sure you had the P800 specifications so its not too big for the screen and the sound will play.

Obviously you can't flash with the USB!
Hence why you can't unlock with the USB! Very sorry, your going to have to buy a comport cable and get the software, or just go to the SE service centre (they might argue, for editing the phone software ) or just go to the local blackmarket and get one of those guys to do it, they'll do it for about £10.

check it.

Hi there

just a quick update to save someone else doing the same.

turns out the problem was the startup video has to have a seperate file for the sound (popcorn.wav) and the video file (startup.mp4) these can be found in the sys folder.
If the startup vid has an audio channel it stops and it has to go to a service centre to be flashed.

really, without an emulator with identical software to the PDA you cannot check if various files will work or not as the PDA's player happily plays my startup video

strangely, the shutdown video is a combined video audio file!

Bizzarre
