Guide to get full screen 320x240 24fps video

I have registered just to post some information that may be usefull to your readers. This is a quick quide that was put together for a private forum i mod.

Wel here goes ive played about with many of the products that convert video to be able to be played on mobile phones.

Now i have a sony erricson p800, which can playback both 3gp files and mp4 files in the correct spec's.

However the internal video player sucks really bad. Playback frame rate is awefull. You can improve this by using philips camcorder software (allows you to recond video using the camera),to playback the content and it does a much better job, speed is a lot better but it only accepts really bad quality amr sound.

So i looked at ways at making the internal player better, what did i find out?
well no mater what you do to the video what res what bitrate what frame rate its playback is nothing but shoddy.

Solution has come about. Mobiclip. Mobiclip has players for most media capable phones (anything with a 16hmz Processor and colour screen).

So after much playing about ive managed to get full 24fps, completly full screen video (320x240) on the p800. You can also have lower res's and lower frame rate to lower the file size.

Thing's your need :

1) Mobile phone
2) PC with NT or XP with .net installed
3) Mobiclip installed on your phone
4) Mobiclip codec's and converter on pc
5) Virtualdub

Ive found that at 15fps the video is very nice and smooth and saves on the file size. If you really need 24fps you can do so but i really dont see much improvement. (and im watching this on a 113inch 16:9 screen, at 1280x720 so the pic is quite easy to see flaws in).

Grab your copy of virtual dub.
Open the file you want to encode.
Set video to full processing mode
Set audio to full processing mode.
In audio set compression to none (pcm).
Audio->conversion, set to 16hz, mono, high quality at 16bits.
Video->filters, add a resize, (240x320) (yes that way round)(lazoros resize is good)
Video->filters, add a rotate 90deg clockwise.
Video->frame rate, set to 15
Video->compression choose the activeimage mobiclip codec
---set it to a compression setting 70-75 is a good value, below 50% real quality drop.above 75% huge old files. I like 70%.

Choose file then save processing settings. Give it a decent name. Then next time you want to convert a file simply open the file then open the settings.

Now file-> save as avi.

WAIT. Wait some more and wait forever. ITS SLOW. i get about 1fps at 320x240 and 4-7 at 240x200.

Once its done, right click on the .avi and choose convert to .mo. A few seconds later it will be done. The .mo file should be smaller than the avi. I belive this is due to the audio getting some sort of compression.

Then transfer the .mo file to your phone. p800 users c: or d: \documents\mobiclip\

Wolla some fantastic quality stuff can be converted.

Its been a while. To be honest i stoped using mobiclip. I found it too much hassle to get good results and instead found that a company called lonley cat games, had made a codec based player for uiq.

Now they have also ported an xvid decoder to work with their own player. They have a conversion tool, but anyone with any knolege of virtualdub can recreate the same results and better (2pass video encoding). Playback on my p800 is smooth at anything under 160kbs (which is a great xvid bitrate for max res) from memorystick or 180-200kbs from internal.

If anyone would like instruction on this . Well reply
