<img src="images/logo-microsoft.gif" align="right">Well if its one thing that Microsoft seems to be consistent with, its news reports of security problems. This one is unusal though, because the hackers of the phones are their owners!!! Self-hacking... that's a new one. The phones come locked so you can only load software on them that's officially blessed by Microsoft.... well guess what.... someone figured a way around it.
"LONDON, Jan 16 (Reuters) - French-owned mobile phone operator Orange SA <ORA.PA> said on Thursday it was working with U.S. software ally Microsoft Corp. (nasdaq: MSFT - news - people) to solve what it called a "security issue" on a jointly developed phone.
The British-based mobile phone group stressed that the SPV (sound, picture and video) phones, which use Microsoft software, were only at risk if customers disabled a security function by using a process explained by a Web site,
www.register.co.uk."
The Register has a pretty consistent track record for aggressively going after Microsoft.
