Someone has been kind enough to scan in a bunch of brochures relating to Verizon and the Samsung SCH-i600 Smartphone at Howard Chui's forums. This would seem to indicate that Verizon is close to launched their first pdaPhone based on Microsoft's Smartphone OS. Here are some of the details from the brochure.

Ok we all know that verizon has some of the best service (reception) you can get, but the'yre phones were always so....blah! But now it seems that they're correcting all that. Its appears that they have the jump on beautiful units, whether it be hybrid, or traditional handsets. Sprint (in my opinion only) used to hold the throne on handests, but when they pused back the I500, and the I700 they lost crazy points. So big ups to Verizon for doing their thing. Hell one day I might just swtich sides, especially when customers can bring their current carrier cell number to another company takes effect.
About time they got the jump on SPCS. This could be a good thing to come for us PPC users. Big question but how much different is SmartPhone OS vs WMPE?
Looking at the i600 got me all excited because it seems like its pretty close to what I'm looking for in a pda phone and since verizon isnt getting any of the new cool ones that are coming out, this will just have to do. So I call verizon and they know nothing about it. I go to their website and still nothing. Is this all a fluke? Someone playing a mean joke? Shouldnt someone have some kind of information about the release of a new phone? Hopefully someone has some hard proof of this coming out because I really need a new phone and my poor little V60 is on its last legs. Thanks to anyone who knows anything.

Please keep in mind that Verizon has not officially released any information on this phone. The information posted is leaked information. There is little doubt that Verizon will officially announce the I600 in the not too distant future but until they do, you certainly will not find any information on the I600 on their website or from their customer service reps, who are usually some of the last people to know anyways (regardless if the company is Sprint, Verizon, etc). Companies like Sprint and Verizon can't afford to be officially commenting on phones yet to be released as problems may arise at the last minute that may delay or cause the cancellation of the phone and then you have a lot of angry customers. Until Verizon makes an official announcement (which those brochure images are not becasue they were leaked), you aren't going to find info on the I600 from Verizon's website or their CS reps.
Now, with that said, I am also very intrigued by this phone. The only thing that concerns me is the lack of a touch screen as well as if the keyboard accessory will be a thumbboard or a full folding keyboard.
Just spoke with a guy at a local Verizon store. According to him, they don't have a release date yet, but they did recently get literature on the phone and even have a dummy unit in the store, so it will probably be a matter of a few weeks. I'm eyeballing the i600, the Treo 600, the P900, and the Motorola SM that was just released by ATT. All I want is:
Complete contact list and the ability to dial from contact list
email
web access
schedule
In addition, document viewing and mp3/video would be nice, all in a small form factor. We'll see which one wins my money soon I hope.
Considering Windows Mobile 2003 has been out for almost 6 months now, doesn't it seem pointless to finally release a Smartphone 2002 OS device now? Samsung originally announced this phon in July 2002!
