A couple of things I've noticed that others may be running into. If you setup your user options to show the threads in the reverse order, then when you go in you will get the last post first. That is kind of cool, except that then the page numbers are backwards. Since every other forum I visit is not that way, I keep ending up on the wrong end of the stack... so I decided to stick with the regular order. I thought something was broken until I realized that the last page is really the first post when things are reversed.
Another thing is that I changed the way "new posts" are flagged. It used to be that if you navigated around looking at posts then after a few minutes the "new" flag would get lost and you might have missed some posts. Now it really waits until you visit the thread. It does tell you which ones are new since last visit, and which ones are just unread. Again, I'm not sure if I like this. After a few days, all of the forums will appear unread unless you read every new thing in every forum. This was a suggested setting that we'll try for a while. I can set a time limit upon which anything older is marked read. Currently that's set to 10 days... I'm thinking 5 would be better. Thoughts?

Login Panel:
You can close the login panel however, when you leave the page and return you have to close out the login panel again. Can this be a user option to keep it close all the time?

I had kind of invisioned it working that way, but it isn't and I don't think it is easy to make it do that. I am working on the portal engine right now and we will probably move the right column into that ... which will let us do some more selectivity with it. In the interim you can just let it hang off the right side of the screen if it is bothering you. This was a missed item in my design reviews. I was assuming the collapsed windows would stay collapsed.
We aren't done yet.

I think one reason you don't want people closing this pane is because that is where you are displaying your advertising.

OK, let me see if I understand this.
Old forum: If I got an email about a thread update and took the link to read the thread, all of the forums would get marked as read. That's why I never used the links in the emails.
New Forum: If I get an email about a thread update and take the link to read the thread, only that thread will get marked as read.
If that's how it will work, I like that better!

Is there any way to get rid of the crazy "redirect" thing after every post or login?

I'm not sure if you are accusing me of something, or stating the obvious. There is an ad in the sidebar, but my goal is not to plaster as many ads all over the site as I can. Like I said before, this is a work in progress and I missed something in the way the "hide" would work. It will most likely get changed as we integrate the portal engine.

That is the way it works. The downside is if you've noticed, you are getting a ton of unread threads because they don't just purge after you come back to the site. There are some parameters that we are playing with, and trying to get clarification on from the author of the forum script, to help tune the time that they get counted as read... even if you never read them.
