When I make an appointment in one time zone, fly to another and then update the clock to the new timezone, all my appointment times get changed.
eg, I make an appt for 2pm while in California. Fly to New York and update the time zone and it automatically adds the 3 hour difference to my previous 2pm appt.
Does the i600 have a network time update feature? Maybe this will fix the problem?
Thanks,
Jennie
While traveling, the quick fix that I used was to change the time and not the time zone.
When I recently moved from the East Coast to the West Coast and I had to change every single appointment individually because I wanted to keep my phone on pacific time.
Yeah, this is a troublesome problem. Unfortunately, it's a necessary feature. The phone only does a network update of the minutes, not the hours. If it did, then everytime you changed timezones, all your appoint times would change.
The 'workaround' that I use is that I use the RJTime plugin on my homescreen. I leave my phone set to Central, but I have my homescreen set to display two additional times zones (Pacific and Eastern). Regards. -Jay
Nice homescreen, I am jealous! I need to spend some time and create my own homescreen. I have read many threads and I have little confidence in my understanding of the process.
Thanks for the link, I will definately take note and start working on a homescreen. (Fingers Crossed)

Actually there is. All one has to do when making an appointment in a different time zone is to adjust the appointment time to the time zone the phone is in.
I.e.- Say you are in LA, but you have a 1 PM EST appointment in New York the following Tuesday. Since you are in LA, the appointment will be at 10 AM PST, so enter it for that time. When you travel to NY and change the phone's time zone to EST, the appointment will appear at 1 PM.

That is one way to skin the cat, but I prefer entering in an appointment at the original time without making adjustments for the time zone. It was a good idea though. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, that might work for a lot of situations, but I'd think it would get confusing real quick when multiplied by several dozen appointments spread across 4 domestic time zones (+ the weird Newfoundland zone) and the occasional international time zone.
I prefer to just leave my phone in CST all the time and do any translations in my head.
I think you are making it harder on yourself than it really is. My routine when I travel to a new time zone is to change the hands on my watch and change the time on my phone (not the timezone). It is my opinion that the timezone feature is not working properly with appointments and we should not use it, instead we should just change the time.

Then you will always have the wrong time for the appointments that are in a different time zone unless you don't change the time zone for the phone when you are in a new time zone.
All travel is time zone and dateline dependent. Therefore, if one doesn't adjust for the timezone differences, there is now way to enter "...an appointment at the original time..."

Brian, I understand your point and I guess it is just a matter of different strokes for different folks.
This KISS (keep it simple solution) works for me. My timezone is set as West Coast on both my laptop and I600. All appointment times are set at West Coast. If I am meeting someone on the East Coast, I put it for the actual time and I do not compensate for the timezone change. When I get to the East coast, I change the time on my phone and the appointment time has not changed. This way, if I enter an appointment for 3pm and I am in the West Coast, but the meeting is on the East Coast. Now this allows me to see my real time appointments for the East Coast without having to think about the time change.
Also, I brought up the point that if you mess with the time zones that it changes all of the "All Day" events like birthdays or holidays. This results in having 27 hour birthdays which looks wierd on the calander, this causes more confusion as to when the event is actually.
This is really frustrating. My I500 handled this fine. Enter in the real (local) time of the appt, when you flew to the new timezone, the phone automatically adjusted its time and everything was perfect.
Now, I have to manually adjust the time. Why the step backward? I know, went from Palm to "SMART"phone.
Seems like it would be a simple solution since obviously Sprint is putting out the correct local time (or it wouldn't have worked with my I500).
