There is a difference between a smartphone producer and a smart phone producer.

I dont know

It looks like you would want your smartphone to be flip if for no other reason to protect the screen and to just protect the entire unit peroid. But what do i know

Reidme, I'm not following your comment with respect to my original question.

Boyddo, I prefer the clamshell form because the mic is closer to your mouth allowing for much more voice clarity, as well as for the unit's self protection while on a construction site. With my Ky-7135 I could make calls from a noisy job site and not have my voice drowned out with background noise--no so with the replacement Treo 650. The Treo defaults to logging into the internet when I have it in my pocket and enough keys get pressed at once. Also, dialing with tiny buttons when bouncing along in a truck is a hazard. Voice dialing is fine until I call voice mail and have to enter a password, including "#", which requires two keystrokes. Sprint unfortunately does not have good coverage in the Boston area and was terrible in the North SF Bay area which is why I switched to and stick with Verizon. (Sprint is a better service on paper and I liked them when I had them--except for the dropped calls.)

So, back to my original question, can an i550 be used on Verizon assuming that I am not trying to get data service?

What I meant was that the smartphone producers aren't very smart (to not make flip phones.)

I think you might be able to activate an i550 on Verizon for voice only, but I'd ask on a Verizon forum to make sure.

Yes.
Use your CD card to do that. Use the free software if do you want to use another format , like mpg. The software is THe Core Pocket Media Player.
