Reidme, I'm not following your comment with respect to my original question.
Boyddo, I prefer the clamshell form because the mic is closer to your mouth allowing for much more voice clarity, as well as for the unit's self protection while on a construction site. With my Ky-7135 I could make calls from a noisy job site and not have my voice drowned out with background noise--no so with the replacement Treo 650. The Treo defaults to logging into the internet when I have it in my pocket and enough keys get pressed at once. Also, dialing with tiny buttons when bouncing along in a truck is a hazard. Voice dialing is fine until I call voice mail and have to enter a password, including "#", which requires two keystrokes. Sprint unfortunately does not have good coverage in the Boston area and was terrible in the North SF Bay area which is why I switched to and stick with Verizon. (Sprint is a better service on paper and I liked them when I had them--except for the dropped calls.)
So, back to my original question, can an i550 be used on Verizon assuming that I am not trying to get data service?
