Clean it to sell it

I have been reading your posts for years now here with the i500. Posted a little, what I knew. (Man, I am going to cry.)

Sorry to say. Over the last year my i500 starting loosing coverage in a two block area where I live. But worked perfect ever where else in this great country that I travel in. My luck. Tried to work it out with sprint, but it was left at the old hardware trying to connect to the newer towers.

So my last question here for yous. I am going to delete my presonal info from the phone and then sell it on eBay.

I am going to do a hard reaset, and then put some large data files back on the device to overwrite the memory and then do a hard reset again.

Any other advice? Will I reset my old phone number and everything esle?

Thanks much...

Side topic if you are intersted. I went with ATT and purchased an used Treo650 on eBay. I got a solid deal on a good used phone from "morecells". It seemed good for a while having a bigger screen and able to use PalmOS 5 apps. But after a week now, I am seeing fast how much better the i500 was as a phone. And I really don't use any Palm OS 5 apps, I still use the same apps that worked for me on the i500. Also, I am really tired of how much larger the 650 is. Oh well... moving on, I hope that ATT brings out the centro with in the year. Hopefully time heals the pain.

The i500 was definitely a special phone... still can't believe that Samsung didn't ever deliver the i550. And I still can't believe that no one else hasn't developed a good small flippable PDAPhone other than the non touchscreen Windows Mobile Standard. As for clearing your device, I've never done anything with mine but hard reset them before turning them back in.

My understanding is that it was Sprint who pulled the plug on the i550 at the last minute, when Samsung had already incurred all the R&D costs. That killed not only the i550 but all future prospects for Palm phones from Samsung.

Yes, I also can't believe there is more market pressure to deliver better smart flipphones. Its a shame... I would even go for a WM/Std flipphone if it came to Sprint. At least the iPhone, the Touch and the Voyager are rekindling interested in non-QWERTY touch-screen phones... which perhaps will lead back to a smart flipphone...

They sure did devliver it, I used it at their showroom in NYC. I am pretty sure it was Sprint that did the dirty deed.

So, BB, as one of the previous i500-"faithful"... do you find that you can live with a non-flipphone now ? (all the smartphone choices we have now are non-flips... unless one leaves Sprint...)

guys...I still look at my i500 sitting on my desk in it's charger, wondering why the world had abandoned it. I cursed at my 700p at least three or four times a week, all three of them that I had. Thought I would miss graffiti that I've used since the Pilot 1000, but the thumboard really won me over. I got to be much quicker on it than I was with graffiti and I was pretty fast with the stylus.

The Centro has a whole new internal design over the 700/755 and pretty much shares only the processor. It even has a little more usable memory. You'd think the keyboard is cramped, but it's a bit tacky and I type pretty well on it after just a few days. Best thing is, it's stable. It's been rock solid for three days now with no resets. It's fast, faster than any treo that preceded it. No lag between blazer and other programs, no texting issues, and BT is more reliable (wish I could say the same for my headset).

And it's small. I don't feel like I'm carrying around a small brick anymore. I've actually thrown it in my pocket with ease. Would I prefer a flip? Hell yeah. Do I stare at my Centro and think I could raise the screen a little, shave off a couple millimeters of thickness then cut the thing in half and put a hinge on it? Yes I do. I wonder why the idea is not even a thought in design engineers' heads.

And you're making the leap away from OS4.x. Think of all the programs that will work in their newest versions. The expanded contacts and calendar. The screen is sharp, even sharper than a Treo because the screen has the same pixel count but is a little smaller.

Just my two cents. The 755 should just die a quick death. The Centro leapfrogs it. Makes you wonder why they built a second Treo off of the same chipset as the 700. Made no sense.

Of course the 755p is just now being offered by Verizon... of course if Verizon starts to allow Sprint devices on its network... it would mean that Verizon customers could get the Centro as well...

I know. It's a shame, and one of the reasons I didn't switch our company over to them. So you think all those Verizon Palm customers will pay full price or whatever the going rate is on ebay for a Sprint Centro? A few might, but not the masses. The timing of the Sprint exclusive and Verizon's 755 release I think is just priceless. They'd probably find some way to cripple the email or something until they figured out how to charge their customers for it first. I wouldn't want to be stuck with Verizon when the next generation phones come out. Where GPS and wifi might be standard. Verizon will cripple the phones so they only work with a pay for fee service. Love their network, love their customer service, but the fact they do that to their phones on a fairly consistent basis is just BS.

After a hard reset, everything seems to come up as the factory default except my phone number is still there.

Anyone know how I can remove the phone number?

I'd guess you'd have to reprogram it, using the MSL... ##DATA. Edit NAI
