XG23 firmware for the i500 was released yesterday. I got it installed at my local Sprint store today.

Supposedly this fixes the data issues that people have had with WK19 firmware.

...and I assume it fixes the Thinkpad sync and mic sensetivity issues previously addressed in WK19??

(now the difficult part, explaining to my local Sprint store what it is I'm looking for and how to install it...ugh! I dread the thought...)

Atleast Samsung/Sprint seems to be addressing I500 requests/legitimate limitations.

Have you tested the SMS on the new firmware?? I dougt it fixs the missing MID, but if you could test and let us know, that would be great!

I called up today to my local tech, and asked for xg23, and he answered that he just got it today, and he wanted to know how i heard about it so fast!
Of course they didnt do anything about sms...

Quick update...it now automatically disconnects after approx. 2 hours, so you almost never have to wait for blazer to time-out.

Yeah... Either find a Sprint store to do it, or send it to Samsung for a few weeks

I'm really enjoying this new firmware...it seems to know when to automatically disconnect from vision by itself which is great!
Definitely go out and get it!

I have a Thinkpad and had some issues... What fixed mine was to use my old serial port I300 sync cradle. It worked. Once I synced once with it the USB one that came with it worked. Very strange but it worked. I330 cradle won't work as I500 doesn't fit but the I300 one did. There's a thread on using it here somewhere. Do a search...

Just a note... Nothing scientific about it. If the charge light comes on you've pretty well made a good enough connection to sync. Make sure you have both serial and USB checked in your bottom right quicklaunch area. Mine would sync before this but not transfer any data. Once I did it with serial it worked normally with USB.

Does anyone know if this firmware upgrade fix the issue with messaging/voice mails not being received without requiring a hard reset?

Does the firmware upgrade require a i550-specific cable, or can the Sprint store use an older i330 cable?

The tech at the mid-Manhattan Sprint PCS store has tried twice now to upgrade my firmware, but says the cable can't "make contact".

I'm wondering whether he is using the wrong cable.

tell him if he cant make contact with your phone that you just need a new phone...
also the last time i was there the 34th st./herald sq. store did express dhrp, or in other words if you tell them you want a new phone they will order you one with no hassle, and it should come with the new firmware, hope this helps!

Thanks. I might try the Herald Square Store after the Republican National Convention leaves town. It's at Madison Square Garden, ie 34th and 7th-8th, and that entire part of town is crazed right now.
