Think I found a new "fix" today. Just yesterday, prior to the upgrade to XG23, I could dial masked numbers directly. In other words, records marked as "private" could be still be dialed without entering the password.
Now, these records won't dial without the password. I guess this is a fix. Kinda defeats the purpose of marking the records private if they can be accessed. Depends on the display option selected in PREFERENCES. I chose "mask" instead of "hide".
Really don't care about someone knowing the telephone number. But, I have other info (PINs, SSNs, network passwords, etc) saved under a couple of the records.
Interestingly, enough, "masked" records with a voice dial setting will still work without password. Even displays "match MARY SMITH---SECRET". I guess only someone who does a very close immitation AND knows the recorded name can force the phone to dial a hidden or masked record.
I don't use masking for Datebook. Had to go into Yahoo and I500 settings to default all new records as non-private.
BTW, I'm another confirmed user with improved mic sensitivity. Much better quality now. Good luck all

Some people reported problems with WebPro after upgrade. Can you please post WebPro version that you have been using. Also, anybody else experienced problems with WebPro with new frimware?

I too was just at a sprint store and got the run around with the new firmware. The tech swore that it was available at the samsung page or at palmone.com(only supports treos that I could see). He said that all updates were available there. Of course, I didn't have proof to argue with him so I actually came home to check (laugh at me here if you would like).

I just got back from the sprint store also!! Told first by what I think was a 12 yo girl that we don't do updates here, you go to the web page! I said "no you don't" she rolled her eyes. and said "do to"! I ask for the manager, she goes in the back for 10 minutes and comes back out and says "you have to go to the web page"! I ask which web page? she says "I don't know!!" I said "GET THE MANAGER"!! He comes out 10 minutes later to say that he has looked it up and found that they were to do the up date BUT they don't have the cable to do it! He has ordered the cable and will let me know when it comes in! Who wants to take a bet that I will never get a call!!

Chicago-
Thanks for your post, you mind giving the name of the tech you dealed with? I call and they say they cannot upgrade the i500.
For those in the Chicago area, I was in the new store near Old Orchard today, the guy was absolutly clueless. Kept insisting that the system said WF30 was the latest version and no one else had anyting different bc they all have access to the same system. HA!
I'll drive out to Glenview if possible, but if i could get the tech's name and call maybe the guy at my store could figure it out.
Thanks,
Jason

I find these horror stories bordering on fiction. That a major US company can operate with such a network of public facing outlets is truly remarkable. I wonder whether any official from Sprint ever reads this site. I suppose it reveals our love for this phone that we put up with such practices.
Good luck to all of you still trying to get the upgraded f/w.

Finally got my i500 updated. It took a certain amount of perseverance, two visits, about 8 phone calls and during the final trip, nearly 2 hours as the tech futzed and rebooted his PC and whatnot. Apparently I am the first in the Syracuse, NY area to have the update done even though I know that the local Best Buy sold quite a few of these phones.
Now to see if the update makes any difference...
BTW, the free memory on my phone, went from only 1.9Mb to 4.9Mb (after Hotsync restore). Gee, I wonder what I'm missing ?
Maybe just junk and stranded garbage. Really makes you wonder if PalmOS needs a garbage collector...
I really don't yet see anything that I'm missing, even after re-recording my voice dials...
One of my guesses is that I have always been suspicious that WebPro leaves all sorts of crap around.

Hmm... I had a very similar improvement after upgrading and at this point, it appears there were no 'leave-behinds' after re-synching. Congrats on finally getting th e upgrade!

Updated in Beachwood Ohio
I just got back from the Beachwood Ohio sprint store. After 2 hours the Tech finally got my 500 updated. Not a bad experience though. When I brought the phone in, he took it back and told me that I had the latest as far as he could see (ws30). I told him that is the original and there has been 2 more updates since that one. Anywho.. I remembered something I read here on PDAPhoneHome... (Obviously they have 2 techs in this location, because I have seen other posts where people have gotten XG23 from Beachwood). I told him that it isn't on the sheet, but it is on the download page... He came back 5 minutes later... told me everything I said was exactly right. To make a long story short.. he had never upgraded an I500 before, so he played with it for an hour. Finally the 2nd tech came in at about noon and was able to show the other tech how to do it...
So Beachwood now has 2 capable technicians who know how to upgrade the i500.
First thing I noticed is Blazer seems way faster, and the Vision Up and Down arrows blink 10 times faster then they used to.. makes me think that it is connecting better!
