I will be very interested in whether the standard USB cable works. My store implied it takes some special type of harness, but I trust them less far than I can throw them.

OR with a sufficiently long cable, you could visit each of us and do the job while we dine.

I upgraded to XG23 with no problem at the Greece, NY (Rochester area) store, which provided their usual excellent service. Dropped it off at lunchtime, picked it up after work, restored from backup, and everything seems to be working well. They also did the usual diagnostic check and updated the PRL. It's too soon to say what the new software fixes, though. Time will tell.

Congrats!

You appear to be one of the few, the proud, the upgraded!

Spoke to my tech today. He claims he should have what he needs to upgrade me any day now. I am supposed to call him back on Friday. Funny thing is that someone else came into the store recently also asking about the upgrade. That must have been what lit a fire under him.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Do I need the upgrade?

I have not had any issues at all with my i500. I have the WF30 on my phone. Is there a reason I need to get the update??

Bad news: my USB sync cable did not work. He had to install the Samsung drivers, but for whatever reason, he was not able to get their firmware update program to talk to the phone. (He spent 45 minutes with a Sprint customer support, so he knows what this feels like, too).

He asked me for the address or phone number of any other Sprint store which has done an upgrade to XG23. He wants to call them and ask what cable they have and where they got it from.

i330? MickCole? Could you give me the store address you were upgraded at?

thanks.

Mine was upgraded at the SprintPCS store in Greece, NY. Their address is:
2100 W Ridge Road, 14626.
Telephone: (585) 453-1111.
I highly recommend them for anyone in the Rochester, NY, area--very friendly, courteous, and helpful.
They knew exactly what I was asking for, and were happy to take care of it for me.

The main reason that I am upgrading is for the mic sensitivity improvement. I want people to be able to hear me better.

Talking Flash Dance in MASS

Just got XG23 flashed at the Winter Street store in Boston:
617/542-3777

Ken is a very nice tech there. Took 10 minutes.

It seems to work just fine; not slower at all, faster if anything.

Good luck to all,

BB

Sorry but I could not see--I did try to look into the back room but had no luck. I should have asked. You might give him a call, he is a good guy.

Had my I500's firmware upgraded today and received a secondary benefit... my free memory jumped from 22% to 35%!!
I gained another 2meg of memory! Has anybody else had this happen?

gottago

By the way, for you Dallasites, the Addison store has the upgrade.

How did you reinstall? I would suspect that everything didn't make it back on.

I have checked every app and they are there and working. I did a hard reset and synched. The only thing I can think of is that it didn't load all my history data, but I have no evidence of this. It definitely makes me go Hmmm!

Re: Do I need the upgrade?

The main reason I wanted the upgrade was mic sensitivity! If u need it, the new store on Michigan Rd by Costco was able to help me. (I tried 3 others first) Good luck! - post

FWIW, I haven't had any complaints about people not being able to hear me since I got the upgrade. Before I got the upgrade, people complained quite frequently. I haven't made enough calls yet to be 100 % sure, but early indications are that it does appear the upgrade fixes the mic sensitivity problem.
