Can someone elaborate on the firmware bugs? I am still on wf30.

Quote:
# March 2004: Sprint releases firmware version WK19.
WK19 fixes the Thinkpad IR problem, and improves microphone pickup.
It also introduces the "network hang on idle timeout" bug.
My phone will sync with my ThinkPad T21 in 3 ways: via sync cable, via IR and over Vision. What are the symptoms of "network hang on idle timeout"? In terms of microphone pickup, how sensitive should it be? Should I really upgrade to xg23?

xg23 is well worth it imho over wf30, you can hold the phone farther away from your mouth and still be heard, plus vision seems to go faster, and it knows when to automatically disconnect, so that you dont have to wait for blazer to time out...

I hadn't thought about there being a connection, but since upgrading to the XG23 firmware, I can no longer use the Pronto Lite remote control app. It states the port is in use, even immediately after a soft reset.

Just returned from another store that told me that the update was now online. I printed what someone stated to tell them and they took it in the secret back room. They said they downloaded the software from another store and would put it on. I told them the last store that tried it blew the phone out. They said not to worry...

About a half hour later I returned and a lady went to get my phone and returned with it and all data was gone. XG-23 was now the version. They also managed to get that nasty gash out of the front of mine that happened last week when it came out of it's belt clip.
I wonder how they get them scratches out... (grin)

Hard to believe the only way to upgrade is to get another phone...

How do you tell whether the phone you just got is refurbed? I know there's something you enter to look...

Thanks... Guvner..

hit ##786 OK

you get an info screen with all the data you need including whether it was a refurb and how much it has been used (assuming they did not reset it).

Do not worry if it turns out to be a refurb, they work just as well and just as long.

If a refurb you get the longer of 6 months or your original warantee; if new you get a year from the date you got the phone.

What are the chances of them knowing how to call up the history of it and clear it if they don't even know how to upgrade the software?

I'm continually amazed... Guvner..

I doubt they can change the refurb status, maybe just the usage status.

You are welcome!

Oh yea... Sorry about that... Thanks... I did do a search and had found the code but still not a good excuse for not saying thanks....

Replacement isn't a refurb but has 31 hours on it.

Sorry... Guvner..

Anyone know a store around the Phoenix, AZ area that would do the update? I have tried a couple around here and they all seem to not have it.

The store I went to in the above story also told me they didn't have the cable. When confronted with the truth they downloaded the fix from another store and also discovered a cable for it... They still fried the phone but that's their problem for being incompetant. (Or their superiors for not training them to work on existing equipment..)

I just hope mine doesn't have anymore issues that require their help... Guvner..

Would really like to upgrade my i500 to XG23 as well. Tried it over the summer when I first got the phone and the local Sprint store fried my phone...good thing I had another set of PDA Jackets for it, and a full backup (Backup Buddy).

Anyone in New Jersey get their's flashed by a store that knows how to do it?

For those in the Houston area, the store on San Felipe near the Galleria has the software and hardware to upgrade to XG23. They also understood what I was asking for immediately unlike most of the other stores in Houston. I'll also give kudos to the store on Main and 610. They could not perform the upgrade themselves (no cables) but knew it existed and where to send me that had the proper equipment.
