I'm still running the original firmware (WF30). Maybe that has something to do with it.

I don't mind leaving the i500 connected, but sometimes it prevents phone calls, and sometimes it locks up Blazer and SMS. Also, I understand it drains the battery. In any case, it would be nice to have it shut off automatically after a while.

That's funny, since this upgrade was to fix the bugs in the last upgrade.

Were you specific about wanting the XG23 firmware upgrade?

I know that the computer tells them not to use the WK19 (the first upgrade), but the XG23 should be ok.

I just had my i500 upgraded to XG23 yesterday. In the Framingham, MA store. It had been my first chance to get back there in several weeks, and the only reason I had the chance was that I was on the way back from getting a root canal.

XG23 has not been recalled.

FWIW, the upgrade went almost without a problem. After about 15 minutes, Brian (the tech) came out and told me my phone way fried during the upgrade. So he pulled a new one out of stock for me and started to upgrade that one. When it "fried" too, he became suspicious, popped the battery off on mine, and when he put it back in, all was well.

I.e., it just needed a reset after the upgrade. Keep this in mind if they tell you yours died during the upgrade. Unless, you want a new i500, that is.

All is working fine for me so far.

Does anybody know the firmware history for the SPH-i500? I have a phone I purchased earlier this year and it will not sync with my ThinkPad T40.

I went to a Sprint store today and they put a new version of firmware on my phone. The version is WF30 but I still can't get the thing to synch.

When I came home I synched in the crade, fine. Then I tried with IR and no luck.

This board seems to be full of help so I hope someone can offer some to me.

Thanks,
John

You got the oldest version. The current one is XG23 and that will take care of the IR sync problem. Remember IR sync can be slow.
