Here is the i500 faq list, as you can see it is a work in progress, and i am still working on it. If i made any mistakes, or if you have something to add, please pm me.

I would suggest that each FAQ question and answer be in a separate post in this thread, rather then all in one. That way, the "last edited" date will indicate when an entry changes.
Is there any way to get real SMS on the i500?
As of now, the answer is no, and that is unlikely to change as sprint has not added sms to any phone that was released before the launch of SMS, and hassprint has made statements that they do not intend to add sms to any phones that do not support it out of the box.
There are 2 programs that can do text messaging, the first is a free app called text messanger by pph user, Scott, it can be obtained here, it's main limitation is that you must specify the carrier you are sending to, and not all carriers are available. the second is pda apps' i500sms, it costs $20 to buy, and is availablehere, although it works to text message other carriers, when you recieve a message it wont tell you who it's from.

Is There Any Way To Customize Ringtones To Specific Callers On The i500?
Yes, in the address book select a name, then choose edit, then details, and then special ringer.

Is There Any Way To Check My Hotmail?
To check a text only version, on blazer go to http://mobile.msn.com/hm/folder.aspx
To check an html version Use The Webpro browser and just go to hotmail.com.

How Do You Reset The i500?
There Are 3 Kinds Of Resets:
If you are getting a fatal error you first want to do a soft reset, you wont lost any information,
1. Soft Reset:Unscrew The Stylus And use the tip to poke in the hole next to the # key.
If you still get a fatal error, you will want to try a warm reset next.
2. Warm Reset: follow the instructions of the soft reset, but hold the up key while you do it, your i500 will now start without extensions, this is basically a safe mode in which your phone and hacks wont work, what you want to do is delete the app that you think is the problem, if you have AIM, definetaly start with deleting that, and then do a soft reset and see if that fixed the problem, if it didnt, do another warm reset until you find the bad app.
If you cant find the bad app you will have no choice but to do a hard reset,
3. Hard Reset:follow the insructions of the soft reset, but hold the phone button(the upper button on the right side of the phone)while you do it, and then push up when prompted, you will lost all your info.
Still not working? Bring it into a sprint service center!
Note:NEVER do 2 resets in a row, such as poking the whole and then removing the battery, or readjusting the battery right afetr you just put it on.

How Do I Use The i500 As A Modem?
Disclaimer:Using a phone as a modem while dialing into the pcs vision network while on an unlimited vision plan is against sprint's TOS, and your pcs vision will be subject to termination.
All you have to do is install all the drivers from the cd, and then make a new internet connection, call it sprint, type in the number to dial as #777, and leave the user id and password fields blank, then plug the i500 into your computer and on windows xp go to your start menu, and then connect to, select sprint, and then choose properties, and confirm that the Samsung CDMA Modem is checked, and not your default modem, and then youre all set!

I Lost My CD! Where Can I Find The Latest i500 Drivers And The Latest Version Of Palm Desktop?

How Do I Upgrade The Firmware on My i500, And What Will It do?
The latest firmware is XG23, you can check what firmware you have by pushing ##run, and then the OK button.
The following are all of the firmware versions, and their respective problems and fixes.
WF30-The original firmware, it didnt IR sync with IBM notebooks, and had poor mic sensitivity.
WK19-This fixed both of wf30's problems, but caused problems with the data connection.
XG23-Fixes all known problems!
You can try going into a sprint store and getting the new firmware, but many stores have clueless and lazy reps, so YMMV!

My Screen Is Flashing, What Does That Mean?
You have the dreaded Flashing Screen Of Death, or FSOD.
The only cure is a hard reset. The most common cause for this is doing 2 resets in a row, as is described in the reset question.

Does The i500 Have A Built In Alarm Clock?
Not a very good one, but on Scott's website you can download a hack to allow the ringers on your phone to be the alarm, dont forget to also download a hack manager such as x-master.

Is there a way of using a different screen saver than the ones provided on the i500?
Sure, just go to Scott's website and download what you would like, and you can even upload your own pictures to have on your i500.

Can I View A Picture Mail Message That Another Sprint User Sent Me?
Sure, just go to options>extract info>launch and youll see it!
To forward it to another user, just copy and paste it to over to text messanger or i500sms.
