Saw a similar thread on Slashdot last night, and thought it would be a good discussion here.
You just got your new I500 (or did a hard reset with no backup)... what are the first 5 apps you install?
Here's my list:
BigClock - can't live without it. No way, no how.
Bubblet - Great for those moments when you're waiting.
Docs to Go - a must have to keep track of my hobby job.
AvantGo - for when I can't be online.
Skin Selector - it's not my phone if it's not my wallpaper.
How's about you? |

AIM
WebPro
MegaLauncher
Worldmate

Vindigo (if a palm did only this it would be worth having)
i500sms (needed to send sms)
Dir Asst. (really neat)
DropNote
FindHack
McPhiling
Avantgo
BigClock
OK so I cannot count, it rounds to five.

Datebk5--huge improvement over standard Datebook
i500SMS--really should come with the phone
TakePhone--also should have come with the phone. Great to be able to easily look up and dial numbers without taking out the stylus
Strip (Secure Tool for Recalling Important Passwords)--free program to keep track of my gazillion computer and website passwords. Makes it easy for me to not use the same password everywhere.
Checklist Lt--mostly used for packing lists and groceries |

NOT if you round down--the beauty of understatement.

I would add WeekView, the best part of Datebook5 w/o any of its other problems.

Other than the obvious - Skin Selector/Eudora/X-Master etc.
1. MegaLauncher - Very customizable Launcher
2. Palmary Clock - Over 70 super cool clocks to choose from
3. On Command On - must have at work in the cradle w/ Palmary
4. DateBk 5 - Just barely beat out Agendus
5. Splash ID - more robust than Yapps - and user friendly
Honestly, I'm surprised all these proprietary apps work so well together on this phone. I had the i330 and these same programs crashed the phone constantly!!!

Eudora
Webpro
Graffitti Anywhere (for emergencies if pad goes bad)
Tried Handwrite - but old one didn't work - anyone know a good one?
Going slow - don't like crashes - all my jotsync is by infrared - for convenience - so takes forever to load apps |

AA Flights
United Flights

hey jrocket,
the only way I find this stuff is just to go to google and type in the filename and the word palm. Usually turns up a download pretty easily.
However, I do use some of these download sites occasionally:
freshmeat.net / sourceforge.net
freewarepalm.com
palmgear.com
Although I will say overall, I'm disapointed there isn't one GREAT site for quality palm freeware. Freeware palm is mostly junk (palm 1.x/2.x stuff) and freshmeat/sourceforge only carries the OSS stuff. |

3) SWCalc - a scientific calculator (free)
4) Street Atlas Handheld 2004 - lots of good waypoints and accurate maps in my area
5) Sol Free - a solitaire game (free) |
