Modem Data (Autocalled?)

This is scary. I was using my phone this evening for a 1 hour conference call. I hung up, and walked away from the phone to do a few things. When I returned the phone was dialed into a Modem Data call to 877-700-5944.

It autoconnected to somewhere, and the data arrows were flashing, so it was sending/receiving something. I hit the "address book" button, and the call immediately disconnected.

Anyone else have this happen? Any ideas about the call, is it an auto-update from Sprint, or a virus lurking in my phone?

Jeff

Angry 1-877-700-5944

I have a Dell Laptop that is dialing 1-877-700-5944 does anyone else have this problem? It is ringing up $20.00 plus per month on my verizon wireless aircard bill.

Does anyone know what this may be? What program is causing iit to dial this number.

Thanks for your help

I'm having the same problem with my Dell Precision M90. According to this page What Is A Toll-Free Number And How Does It Work this is a tollfree number though. Anyway, the calls fail, because I live in the Netherlands. My laptop is equipped with StopTrack. I'm wondering if this is the cause of the dialing attempts...

This is also happening to me on my cell phone. 1-877-700-5944, 81-877-700-5944, and 91-877-700-5944 are being dialed automatically on my cell phone. This started after my PayPal account was accessed and unauthorized transactions hit my bank account.
