Well, no more i500 for me.

My i500 screen died last week. you have to twist it to get it to display anything but lines.

I called Asurion and was informed the i500 wasn't available. Then the rep said she was very sorry & that she knew i500 owners were Very attach to their phones but she could only send me a new Treo 755P as a replacement.

I didn't even get a chance to whine about loosing my beloved i500 before she told me all that.
I guess we have been making it clear to them over the years that we don't want to switch.

So, I now have a nice new Treo 755P and I hope I am half as happy with it as I was with my i500.

If you want to upgrade..... $50 and a report of a Lost/stolen phone gets you a new Treo 755P. (if you claim broken, you Might get mine after it is fixed.
)

So sad. I "upgraded" to the Centro but I still have the i500 as a back up. The newer Treo's and Centros are better PDA's than the i500. Just not as good as phones. But overall, it is an upgrade and you will be happy. You can't complain about being offered the 755p. While the Centro is newer, most 755 owners seem to think the 755 is better.

Yeah, I loved my i500 because it is a great phone with a good pda in it.
Everything else is a great pda with a good phone in it (or a crappy phone in it. lol)
But I have always used mine as a phone first so....

and yes, I am happy they offered me a Treo 755P. I would have been as happy with a Centro I think. but I didn't want to give up my "Top tier" when it came to my phone. never know what will come out in the future or what tier it will be .

Very happy with the screen on the 755 though. I can now play Spaceward Ho Palm version. I could run it on my i500 but the resolution made i hard to play.

I’ve heard whispers of a Blackberry Kickstart coming this year; a clamshell with their OS of course, but on T-Mobile I think. Assuming it arrives, I’d have to rearrange my life to maintain my clamshell smartphone allegiance.

BlackBerry Kickstart, the clamshell flip phone? We’re unveiling it to you for the first time! : Boy Genius Report

i500 to Centro

5 years w/ two i500s. I only miss the form factor and how solidly built it was. I luv my Centro - very powerful and a great communicator. IM, SMS, Email, Google Maps all out of the box! It's a brick, though a small one - I still feel like a weight has been lifted. I've learned to type pretty fast too (first qwerty).

So how are you liking the 755? I apparently just had the digitizing screen die on my i500 - and I'm not excited about the idea of switching....

Anyone have a spare i500 that still works? I've got Assurion coverage, and I could apparently get the 755, but it's just depressing....

(It's going to be a pain, but I was able to set up one of my buttons for the "applications" menu, so at least I can navigate...)

I still want an i500!

Any ideas, I'd appreciate it!

Aletia

Hi Monkeyboy!

Didn't mean to ignore you - was just heading out of the country for a bit when my i500 seemed to die. And I would be honored to have your i500.

But fate has smiled, at least briefly. On the flight, I was playing with it a bit, and pulled out the battery (taped on, so it's a pain). Once it restarted, the graffiti area worked again. It's been fine since. So I'll see how it goes. I've been in GSM territory, so no phone coverage, but I've been using it this week, and all seems fine.

But thanks! And I'll see how long I can keep this poor puppy running...

Au Revoir to the i500 for me as well.

I ordered my 16G iPhone today (delivery in 7-10 days).

It's been a good phone, I've loved it. But lately EVERYONE in my circle has taken up texting. The work arounds are not sufficient and overall, it's gotten kinda buggy. It seems to decide on a case-by-case daily basis whether it feels like syncing or not. Plus the battery clip broke and, as such it slips loose a lot.

I look forward to my fully converged Mac universe.

Have you tried Graffiti Anywhere? If your main problem is the Graffiti area, this may give you a bit more time with the beloved i500.

I am hanging on, but just barely, to my own.

Actually, I did find it when the graffiti area was being flaky - and it actually works pretty well. You're right, it's a good backup, if it dies again.

Seems awfully silly to be hanging on to this thing - but the longer it works, the better will be it's replacement.

Thanks!
