Ahh... that was your's that was so big. If you download the template, you can see exactly where to place the buttons/etc on your graphic, and the exact size the image should be. I also added some checks to make sure that the image was size to 160x65 before the system accepts it to keep problems like your's from happening again. You should create your image in a program like Photoshop (or your favorite image editor, there are many free ones available) before uploading it. If you open your image locally on your machine, it should be the same size as the 'preview' images up on the site.
how about a "private" system as well. For example, the guy who wants to make a skin of his kids probably doesn't want to post that as a download. Could you add an option on the upload form that would allow people to either just download it right away from the site or have it emailed to them without it posting to the site?

i might want your children on my graffiti screen....

So all I am doing is uploading the jpeg file? Or do I have to overlap the pic with the template? Still lost!

You don't *have* to even have buttons in your graffiti area visually, if you do not want. How your skin looks is up to you. The site does not 'automatically' add buttons to your image, so if you want buttons on your skin, you'll need to make sure that they are on the JPG before you upload it. Whatever you upload as an image, that's exactly what you'll see in the graffiti area on the phone. The only difference between your uploaded image and the final skin is in the limited color pallete of the i330.
Scott, I might have found a slight bug. When I did a search for skins, I believe I pulled up some of the "Private" ones. They were not listed in the misc category like it said in the search results. Might want to exclude the private pics from the search feature, if you haven't already thought of this.

Right now all 'private' does is keep it from being 'browseable'. I left the search in there so people could pull up their own 'private' skins. Hmm.. Maybe I should make private skins searchable only by author? Not sure... Opinions anyone?
What if instead of putting it into the directory at all, it just generates the skin file and either provides a direct download or emails it to the user, then deleting it from your server?
I just uploaded Fade.jpg to the site and it looks fine on the web page. However, when I download and install it to the phone, it looks like a bunch of black lines. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Thanks for the post -- the jpeg to bitmap conversion failed. I was using an older version of the ImageMagick libs on the server -- I put up the new libs, and re-built your "Fade" image, and it looks good now.
Is the phone skin section still under construction? I'm anxious to try my hand at that... the link for the phone template image didn't seem to work as of 11:30 pacific time on 1/29.
Very nice program! I'm a newbie and just used the photoshop template to create my own graffiti skin - uploaded it, downloaded it, installed it - works great!
Scott,
Many thanks for this site. I tried to upload, but see that I did a bad job. It's on the misc page. You can remove at your earliest convenience. Thanks... I'll do better next time!
