I had this problem too... pain in the ass..

Under Prefs -> Buttons. Click Wake Up. Select "Power and Volume Buttons".

Now it won't turn on until you press ->both<- the power and the volume buttons at the same time..

I like it, but...

if you have your display set to auto off after x secs, you have to hit Vol/Pwr to get it back on, but it ALWAYS goes back to the Phone.

Worth it though, to not accidentally call some random person from my phone book....
