You can't. I too sometimes wish I could switch. Try ActionNames. They offer a free 30 day trial and present maybe 10 diff't options for your contacts. Read more about it in the Apps Forum.

Fas,

You can't 'set it' that way -- but you can _have_ it that way if you like -- if you're willing to do a bit of work. At least using PDesktop 4.1 for backup you'll only have to do it once.

All my names are filed first name first - and how I did it was simple. Go to the first entry and get to the edit stage. Highlight the first name; click 'cut'. Tap the Last Name line just before first letter in the last name; click 'paste'. Swipe the grafiti area to separate the two names; click 'save'. Done. When all your entries are the way you like, save to Desktop.

Sure, Action Names would be faster -- but this way is free. :p

not for everybody

that shoudl work, yes, but only if your concerned about the names in the palm only. for people who synch their address book to something like outlook, act, or lotus notes editing that field may be a problem..

maybe not with the application, but it might be difficult to get used to and / or use the pc address book, especially when doing form letters or mass mailers...

plus,, it's a lot of work....

just my thoughts....

The easiest and cheapest way would be to just change your mind and sort by last name.

Works for me every time.

Ah, yes -- the path of least resistance. Works for the Borg every time, too. <g>

When it's the path I wanted to take already,,, you bet'cha. Now leave me alone while I go regenerate. Hey, where's my woman, Seven of Nine?
