Thumbs up Some questions

Hi guys,
Great site. I gotta say if you want the right answers, you always have to go to a messageboard to get the answers, eveything else is mostly marketing hype.

I have to apologize, i know it gets frustrating for some of you experts to hear the same old dumb questions. I have done a fair amount of searching and have got some great answers, and solutions, but just a couple i couldnt find:

1. Where can i get a newer version of hot sync? I cant seem to find it anywhere.... i need it because i am having IR syncing issues, and from my search it seems that the newer version solved the IR sync for many, I just cant find a site to download it.

2. Cases? anybody recommend anyone in particular? i have seen a couple (dont think i am interseted in the plastic, seems like it is still pretty vulnerable with it on, though cool). any links on this would be really appreciated.

3. Eudora mail? do you guys like it? i just downloaded it and it seems good. I dont seem to like Eudora's web browser, any suggestions?

4. A good web browser?

5. Pocket Mirror??? Do you guys use this for sync'ing? Well i started it up, and it downloaded all my inbox, emails from 1999!!! O man what a pain, the only way i could figure out to fix it is by making another folder in outlook. It is temporary. My question is now that i downloaded eudora, which has features not to load emails older then X days, is there anything else i need to change so that once i put all my emails back into the inbox, it will not start loading it back up into the phone.

6. Telnet... any particular ones anybody suggests? i need vt100 and have tgtelnet, dont like it, and mocha telnet, i guess its OK. anything that is really sophisticated. This is the one thing i dont care of the size or expense, i just need the best product out there.

Sorry for all the questions, any u guys may have some answers to, i would really appreciate. I have looked into all of these in the searches, most i couldnt get a complete answer for, but am sure they must be somewhere.

Thanks so much, and oh yeh, This phone kicks ass . Just a little background. I have been using the nokia Communicator 9000il for 3 years, and the cassiopeia e115 for about 1.5 years. So I needed to carry a 'man purse' everywhere i would go. This is just the most amazing solution for me.

1. Hotsynch - from www.palm.com

2. Cases - tons of discussion on this. search away when you have some time.

3. eudora mail - good/ great. eudora browser - poor.

4. the provided blazer is likely your best bet

5. pocket mirror to synch with outlook. firght click on the hot-synch icon and selectn custom to avoid synch'ing mail. if you still want to synch mail.... clean out your inbox in Outlook!

6. dunno

hth

telnet

I'm using a pretty good telnet program. It's basic but gives me everything I need to administer my FreeBSD box remotely.

It's called ptelnet.

Yes, Blazer 2.0 is a standard friend. Its a great browser that runs very smoothly. I don't know what more you could offer in your feedback/review that would benefit that greatly.

Is version 2 freeware? and where is the best place to get it if it is. i see it on handsprings page for$20, but it doesnt seem to much different than my current version 1.1s6

my recent motivations are to find a browser or utuility of some sort that would allow me to zoom an image from the browser, like a weather map, or map, or rador summary. the rador summaries i found, are still so hard to actually see where the rain is.

any thoughts? thanks

rick

I don't let telnet in through my firewall, but I do let in SSH. TGssh has worked well getting into both my Linux and FreeBSD systems. http://www.offshore.com.ai/~iang/TGssh/
