but it can be good in a pinch if you have had a cold reset.. you can save all of your data onto your old palm by beaming. so its god for some reasons...
I'm coming off a Sony 760C and I miss the size and resolution of the screen. Don't get me wrong, I would never give up the I300. I'm just wondering how everyone else copes with the change...
Yeah I was in the Sony gallery last week playing around with the Clie and was amzed by the speed. Were the I300 software tiptop, I don't think the transition would be as noticeable.
I find myself carrying around a T615 loaded with all the apps & games I can't fit on the I300. I also carry an M505 occassionally just 'cause I have it.
I use a Newton MessagePad 2100 along with my i300. Although I don't don't synchronize the two, their address book formats are actually identical/importable, because Palm bought Claris Organizer to form the datebook/contact portion of their Mac desktop software.
I use my i300 as a phone and phone book and my Newton as a notepad and contact manager. (My Newton used to be my swiss army knife when I worked as a reporter, using it to take notes, record interviews, type my stories and e-mail them to my editors.)

P.S. And yes, the 320x320 on the Clie devices are gorgeous...

There's a PDA I havent heard about in a long time. I bought a Newton back in 1994. Its currently my museum of PDAs. Don't get me wrong, at the time I used the heck out of it and the only thing I've ever owned that has the words "APPLE" on it.
I carry around my nearly retired Palm IIIx in my suit case on business trips as a precaution should my i300 freak out while on the road. My faith in the battery life and occasional resets made me pull the IIIx out of retirement on my last biz trip.
Regardless, I dont leave home without my i300 and my wallet.
i have my Simon cellphone... ever heard of that? the first phone/pda to exist! ahhh it was a great phone/pda... i just founf some 8mb pcmcia cards for it!
In case you were wondering, prelusion, the Newton 2000 series is nothing at all like the older Newtons in terms of performance, reliability, etc. With a 162mhz StrongARM and a 320x480 screen, there still are few devices that can challenge it as a true handheld computer. Too bad the software's now getting outdated (poor browsers, in particular).

Going price on eBay is between $150 and $200. GEM Enterprises and Mr. 2nd Hand both sell there and have had multiple favorable reports posted to the NewtonTalk (newtontalk.net) mailing list. Good quality, service, etc. (I have nothing to do with either company, and am in fact contemplating replacing my upgraded 2000 after nearly five years of daily service.)

One of my 2100's is brand new. I only took it out of the box & played with it a couple times. I just knew it would take years to come up with something as advanced as the Newton again, & I had to have one more for posterity's sake. I still have a ton of software & peripherals too. I suppose I should hit ebay. I love my Palms, Clie's & I300, but the Newton was really special.
