Brooks, Could you check the HotSync application version and see if this is updated. Reason I ask, I have the exact same hardware/software version (all is the same except my PRL is newer) and I don't have USB as option. The applications says it's version 3.5. Just wondering.
Cliff has a good point, it may be a sign of things to come (one could only hope)
I wonder if connecitons are stored in a preferences DB that can be overwritten, I restored more than a few times from an old IIIc install and I wonder if it got modified then to not include this option?
Geez, this makes me feel good- I have the same config as brook's orig post, yet no usb opt...(finally got around to checking)! I wonder what else they change without rev'ing up the version....!!!...
Mojo - what palm os & hotsynch ver is on your phone? mine's 3.5.2 and 3.5, respectively... this is more of a palm os thing than a phone function, anyhow...
Someone most likely is playing a mean trick on your friend. You can edit the connections to display whatever text/title you want. If you want to see the real data speed for the connection method go to: Prefs, select connection, then highlight the supposed USB method, select edit, then details. Select Speed and you'll see that 115,200 is the top speed available for ANY direct/IR connection. For modems the top speed is 57,600.
If you happen to see a choice higher than 115,200 you have one very unique i300!
why would you suggest someone is playing a trick on her? why cant the newer versions have more options than the first run phones? if the desktop hotsync has usb options on it, why not the hotsync managere on the i300? the hotsync app on the i300 is copyright 1999 ya know...
hey fikse, what is her copyright year on the hotsync on the i300? (in the hotsync app on the phone, pulldown menu>help.)
go to your prefs menu and hit conection. from there, select the connection you want to look at then hit details and see the specs..you and i dont have the usb option so it wont be there.. comaro was saying you can set up a new connection method here and name it anything you want to..
what , if anything, has changed as a result of you getting this new software? i dont want to go install stuff just for the sake of installing... did they give you a list of what the software is suppose to fix? also, how did you know to go into do it?
I really didn't notice any big difference. It seems like I have had less soft resets but then that could just be my imagination. I just like to keep up with the latest so that if any people have problems I can help them. I am in charge of cell phones at the University that I work for and the Sprint people are always keeping me informed of new developments. My previous version ended in an 06 but I do not know the exact number. I purchased one of the first phones offered by CompUSA, before Sprint even began to sell them, so it is definitely a 1st generation phone that came out. Unlike the Kyocera this upgrade does both the PDA and phone side a once they are not separate.
