I just found what appears to be a new flaw with this phone, or mine is defective.
When you miss a call, it will put a message on your screen telling you that you missed the call. Then, the phone will not ring again until you acknowledge that original message.
So, let's say the phone is on my desk at work and it rings, then turns the screen off while I have stepped away to use the copier. Let's also say that I do not turn on the screen when I sit back down at my desk, so I do not see nor acknowledge the message that is waiting to tell me "Missed Call from xxx-xxx-xxxx." On my phone, every future call will go directly to voicemail without ringing. This is not a problem for those people that leave a message, but when people just hang up on the voicemail system I will have no way of knowing that they ever called.
I don't want to be a complainer, but it seems pretty basic for cellphones these days to be able to keep track of a few missed calls. My 3 year old StarTac could do this.
Is my phone defective or did Samsung miss the boat again?
Mine functions fine. May need to perform a reset. Do you have that alert hack on there or anything of the likes? Those tend to act funny. Every now and then my phone will freeze up after receiving a couple of messages and the screen will stay on until I reset, but I think its due to programs installed.
Big Kev I just tested my phone ie left voice mail waited for screen to go off then called no problem it rang. Then just called the phone again did not leave voice mail waited for screen to go off called again and phone rang. I also have the I300alert program on. If you tested your phone a number of times (not just weak signal) looks like you have a problem.
Truth is, I am as middle-class as they come, but I do get better reception in the front of the house house (toward the West) than I do at the back of the house. Kind of weird. Also, I can sit on my couch and watch the signal bars go up and down... shouldn't a tower send me a signal "constant" instead of wavering?

not neccessarily.
The "bars" display shows a single number, quite coarsely.
there are several factors involved with signal reception, such as signal strength and signal to noise.. you may be in an area of your home to where you are in between a stronger signal( and less noise) and vice-versa. the phone tries to tell the tower whee it is and it wil output a stronger signal until it and the tower and get a good "handshake"....
to make a long story short, dont worry about the bars.. heck, ive gotten great reception with one bar and have gotten some bad reception with almost all bars..
