original palm pilot data to i300?

I have the Palm Desktop 3.1 on my PC with data entered into it from my very old palm pilot which has the System v 2.0.5 Pro software. I want to get this information into my i300 (which I purchased on eBay). Can the desk Palm software (Palm Desktop 3.1) recognize the i300 and download the information into it? I can't get the i300 to hotsynch to the desktop.
