Unhappy Are Faded areas on Screen a sign of it going bad?

(If so, do you have an estimate of how long 'til it dies) or is it just the way the i300 is. There seems to be vertical bands that are lighter than the rest especially on the left under the Signal strength. I just bought it on ebay and they didn't mention this in the listing Other than that it seems to work alright though.
Thanks for in advance for any input!

Try adjusting the contrast by holding down the power button for a few seconds. Usually if the contrast is set too dark you will see lines like you seem to be.

do a hard reset and do lot load anything on the phone...

do not mess with any contrast or brightness settings.. the hard reset will return everything back to factory specs,,

if you continue to see this issue then the phone is faulty.
