Does anybody know how Sprint determines that you are connected to the wireless web?

Do they know by you connecting to the sprint dial up number?

or

Do they moniter the type of traffic being transmitted?

The reason I ask is I want to know if you still need to pay the $5 for wireless web if you use a personal ISP.

when you dial into the sprint network, it knows if its a data call or voice. if its a data, it will be routed to another switch dediacted to data. then they bill you this way.

if you dont use the 5$ WW option (which is nothing compared to the fact that it used to be 10 dollars) then you will be billed .39 cents/minute.

Yes, Sprint knows if you use your own ISP.

I sometimes use AOL for Palm and dial the local AOL number and it shows up as a data call.
