According to "Sprint Rep" at the largest Best Buy in the world (Richfield, Minnesota) just down the road from the Corporate Headquarters.....The release date for the Samsung I-330 is Thursday July 18, 2002. . Is this more TechVapor???
BTW Best Buy says there are no I-300's in the five state area

Update from Sprint rep

I work with the Sprint business guys. Just got this note today from one of them

"We are involved in pretty intense 3G training now. Sprint has named their 3G, PCS Vision. ... we are performing some tests with high speed data (avg speed 256kbps) coming this Sept ...We are rolling out the normal 3G product on Aug 8th. I played with a wireless aircard and was averaging 65kbps, pretty good compared to a dial-up. No pricing as yet (they are keeping that pretty close to the vest) and no handsets until Aug 8th and they will roll in slowly up till Nov."

Yee Hah! Only two weeks!

Checks in the mail.....

Another update from the same Sprint business rep referenced above on the release date of the I330.

"We aren’t sure when they will be released but last estimate was Oct or Nov."

If accurate, that would suck! I have been wondering about the rumors of impending release. Normally the product vendor (Samsung) would put product info on their website several weeks before it was widely commercially available to drive demand. Since we're not seeing anything on their site, it leads me to believe the release is not imminent.

More wait n see.

I believe the 300 was on the site for a couple months before its arrival. Plan on September at the earliest.

Samsung I330

Are there any new updates to the release of the I330? I have stopped by numerous Sprint stores and nobody knows what I'm talking about when I mention I330. The last word I had heard on this forum was August availability.

hello

We,ll never see Samsung I330 .

We do not need it , becouse new better models are coming .

1) Just think ,- Will you pay $500 for Samsung I-330 ?

I,ll better wait for I-600 or 700 ....

2) Samsung is very good company for Europe , becouse

the prices for the phones in Europe almost twice then here .

Last month I been in Sweden , Finland and Russia

(only for a week) ... I seen , probably 20 different models of

Samsung , what I never seen here . My T-68 is one of almost

cheapest cell phones , even it cost around $300 overthere ...

I am trying to say ,- is no reason for Samsung to sell I-330

here , in America , becouse most of they technology working

on GSM , what is not popular here .

3) Samsung I-330 is not 3G ready phone .

Is no reason to spend alot money for 2G

Sorry for my russian spanglish ....

Sprint has a good point. The I330 is basically a sexier I300, whose features really don't stand up to other phones expected shortly in the U.S., like the Sony/Ericsson P800 or even the new Kyocera or other Samsung models.

Samsung needs a faster time-to-market with their products.

Wait a sec, the i330 WILL be 3G ready. That's why everyone will buy it. If the i700 is anywhere near the price of the toshiba 2032 (799.99) then I'll be sure to stay away.

How do you define 3G? Let's put it this way, i330 is as 3G as

Treo 300 is. It's not 3G if you look at Sprint's 3G specs for

their handsets, because that has Java and other requirements

which aren't met with either Treo 300 or i330. I guess if you're

using a Palm smartphone, Java applications are not really

high on the list of customer requirements. Still, you get

3G data service, so for the price - I wonder what the price

will be? - it is a very good improvement on i300 which was

a landmark device for the times.
