Hello, I finally got Blazer/BrowseWEB on my I300 (after many hotsync problems).
I have version 2.0 I downloaded from Sprint's website, but when I try to connect this is the error I get
a signing on signal for a while and then:
"Error authentification Failure (0x1233)"
then
"There was a problem connecting to the internet. A PPP time out or authentification error may be due to a problem with your ISP/network Preferences. "
It then asks me to check my network prefs. But as far as I know, or can tell, its all good.
AND I have no problem getting online through the Sprint Web application.
Any suggestions?
Also, are Blazer and BrowseWEB linked programs? When I loaded Blazer onto my i300 it didn't show up. But was there when I looked in the handheld's Info.
Blazer and BrowseWeb are the same app. I have no idea why they show up differently. It makes no sence to me and I have no idea why one will show up and not the other. I have had both on my phone at one time or another and I have not taken the time to figure out why. It just did not seem important enough to me. Sorry.
You mentioned that you think your network settings are correct. What are they? Can you post your confirguration?
Yes, I can connect without a problem through Sprint WEB, just not Blazer. (and I was so looking forward to all my hard work and frustration paying off!)
My settings are:
Service - Sprint PCS
User Name - (its correct)
Connection - current
Phone - #2932
Connection type - PPP
Idle timeout - power off
Query DNS - checked
IP address: automatic
Proxy - (the proxy that was in the phone when I got it, don't want to post it here)
Connection Method - Data on air to Modem
Speed - 19200bps (this was the factory setting. I tried chaning this to 14.4 and that didn't do anything.)
Flow Ctl - Auto
Init String - at+crm=0;
User name should be web and password should be web. I am not sure if you have that entered by "(its correct)", but I thought I should cover that.
Second, change the connection to "Wireless CDMA Modem".
That brings up a good point. There IS an icon for Blazer seperate from the Browse Web icon. It appeared on my screen when I used that app that hides icons for you. Does anyone know more about why Blazer doesn't/does show up on the screen.
I am also having problems connecting to the internet using the Browse Web Application (Blazer 2.0). But connecting to the internet through my Sprint Web is working without a problem. I am getting this message when I attempt to connect through the Blazer App. "Error: authentication failure (0x1233)". Can anyone help me on this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciatted. Thanks
Love the Forum
I'm not sure if this will help or not but I installed a copy of Blazer 2.0 that was not from Sprint (got it straight from Handspring) and i have both icons. there is no difference between my version of blazer and the sprint version as far as i can tell other than the fact that i get the "blazer" icon along with the "Browse web" icon.
IMO i like the Blazer icon's image better than the browse web icon's image, but i use the borwse web icon because i like for one of my icons to say "browse web". i have the blazer icon under misc. along with the other icons i never use (Expense, Hotsync, Mail, ect.)

I can't seem to find the "Download Software" page on Sprint's website. Can someone post a link here?
Does anyone know more about why Blazer doesn't/does show up on the screen.

I was able to make the icon for blazer visible by viewing the file with filez application. first I unlocked the file, applied the setting, then I checked the boxes to make it launchable and unchecked the box that hides it.
I had the same problem when I bought my I300. I could connect to the sprint web, but not through Blazer. I kept getting the Authentication Failure.
it took about 2 days to figure it out, countless calls to tech support @ sprint, and 2 trips to the local sprint store.
All I can say is thanks for nothing! I figured it our myself!
First, the soft resets do not work.
What you need to do is a HARD reset. its basically like a "system restore" on a computer. To do this you must press and hold the power button until the contrast thing comes on.
Now, while still holding down the power button, use the reset tool on the end of the stylus"unscrew the top" RESET the phone.
When it reboots if it asks you to erase all data say yes by pressing up on the scroll buttons.
Now you have reset it.
Second, you have to uninstall Palm Desktop, or whatever syncing software you have. You have to do this because Palm Desktop will restore you bad network settings if you sync it. Therefore you have to un-install it.
*You can backup the address book and other folders by going to *C:\programfiles\palmdesktop\??? and manually copying all *datebook and address folders.
Reboot the computer, reinstall Palm Desktop, and then once again manually go in and replace the address book and datebook with the ones you copied before you uninstalled it.
Then hot sync you I300 after installing Blazer, and you should be able to get online.
just as long as you dont change anything in the network settings.
Hope that Helps
