Perhaps you're right. Well lets start from the top.
1. Perform a soft reset.
2. Should the soft reset not correct the problem, continue with a hard reset.
3. Should the hard reset not correct the problem, perform another hard reset only this time remove all files from your back up folder and add them 2 or 3 at a time.
4. Still, if none of these suggestions correct the error, a warranty exchange may be your only option.
I had this same problem one day last week. I removed the battery with the display on, then replaced the battery. No problems since then. No resets, either.
I had a similar problem. I would use the phone/web until the battery was roughly halfway used. The next time I went to turn on the phone, I would get the "Phone is Low In Battery" message. I read somewhere this is something to do with the internal battery. This happened most times the battery got to this point, but not every time. I could turn off the phone, remove the battery for 30 seconds, and replace it, and it works fine. I managed to get it to fail today at Sprint, so they replaced it for me.
I have just got this message too about a week ago. It started when my phone conked out in the middle of a call for no apparent reason, and then when I tried to switch the phone on again I got the wonderfully grammatically incorrect "Phone is Low In Battery" message.
I also managed to get the phone restarted by disconnecting the battery for a while and then powering it up -- but after several days this technique no longer worked. I took it to a sprint store and they got it working with a soft restart -- but now the phone just operates extemely sluggishly - and eventually it conked out completely. Fortunately, Sprint offered to replace the phone with a Treo 650 when I called them (a much better phone I think) but I am intrigued as to what has caused this problem because I liked my i330.
My theory is that it the problem is with the internal battery that is somehow getting drained. It could be some sort of short or software error -- or possibly a virus. I read today in the LA Times about a virus called Cabir that infects certain phones and causes a battery drain. I have no idea if Cabir can infect the i330 or not, but there are many other viruses out there that work in a similar way and infect cell phones running Symbian software.
Does anyone know how to remove a virus from a cell phone?
