Once I hotsync'd for the first time, when I hit the Palm Home button at the bottom, it used to go to the normal palm screen with the virtual graffiti at the bottom. But now, it pops up a window (over the phone buttons) with all of my icons to choose from (like choosing "All" but you can see the phone behind the window). It's kinda neat, but I put each icon in a certain folder for a reason, I don't like choosing from all icons - too many to scroll through.
But once I go into any app, say datebook, it all works fine.
There is a new icon called Launcher, and that will put me into the normal palm interface.
The only apps that I had loaded on my Palm Vx is OnlyMe, Tiger Woods golf, and SilverScreen (but I deleted that before I sync'd the I300)
Any ideas...<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
check your settings.. if you just simply sycned this phone to the old palm data, that may be your issue.. you are not supposed to do that.. it will cause errors...
SilverScreen does something weird to the Launcher app. In order to delete SilverScreen, you have to install a different app and then delete it. Download SilverScreen again and install the uninstall prc file.
I think I'm lost then. If I'm not supposed to sync my old info, what is the best way to transfer the existing data? What do I do differently.
I'm not sure I follow on deleting silverscreen either. There is no reference to silverscreen on the i300, usually there is an exit silverscreen icon, but I think I've already deleted that. I've installed a few apps after my initial hotsync, like the browser and ZIOgolf, but I cannot find anywhere to delete the prc file. Do I just delete it from the directory that I downloaded to and installed from (ie. c:\download)?
I just downloaded SilverScreen to see the name of the uninstall file and it looks like I was wrong, it doesn't have that uninstall utility. I thought it did.
Do you, or have ever had installed, any other Launcher replacement program? Like Launcher III or Handscape. Both of them have the uninstall file.
I'd recommend going to PalmGear, downloading one of those files, and installing its uninstall program (onto your i300). Launcher calls its DeactivateLIII.prc and Handscape calls theirs Uninstall Handscape.prc. All you should have to is install one of those files, run it and then delete it and that should fix your problem, (I think) .
I beleive what happening is, your Palm thinks it should be running some alternative Launcher program, can't find it, and defaults back to its Palm OS 2.0 launcher instead of the 3.5 one. Why both are still in the OS is beyond me.

install one by one.. thats the only way yohu are guaranteed not to get any "legacy" apps or files into the phone... you can beam over the address and memos and such, but never install from the old hardware to the new...
Just to close the loop. I downloaded and installed Launcher III and it seemed to fix the Palm Launcher before I even enabled LaucherIII. So I tried uninstalling and deleting LIII, per the advice here, and everything seems to be back to normal.
This is why I'm addicted to forums!! You guys and gals are great.
