I'm not sure how long this has been or will run, but yesterday morning the i300 had a price tag of $399, when I convinced myself to go buy it a few hours later, the price tag was removed. I asked one of the store managers about the price, and he kinda laughed saying he just got an email with the price of $299. I jumped on it.
Anyway, any advice for a new guy??<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>
On another similar note, I purchased a 2 yr replacement contract for $50. The manager even mentioned the I330 coming in a few months and laughed that I could "break" this phone and bring it in for the new model.
This seems like a lot better deal than the $4\mo w/ Sprint. It's probably the same replacement terms, but its twice as long for the same money.
dont want to turn this into another insurance thread, but i dont understand what you mean by this statement.. sprints insurance is guaranteed as long as you have sprint service..

2 years of sprint insurance is 12x2x4 - $96
2 years of CompUSA is $50.
That's what I think he meant.
After all, in two years we'll probably all have new phones anyways.

yep, and some, like me, will have a new one before this year is out..
4 bucks/month is nothing.. but yeah it can add up over the years.. but your home/car insurance is the same .. you pay on it monthly, bi monthyl, whatever, and you may never ever need it.. but its good to know its there...
as i said i dont want to start this thread on insurance, so ill hush..
So where can the rest of us non-I300'ers get this deal? Is it available at all CompUSA B&M locations? Because it certainly doesn't seem to be online at all...
I haven't heard it before either. I always ignore their extended warranty pitches, and the manager saw that in my face and convinced me to listen. I'm kinda sick of paying $5 \ month here and $20 \ month there, so this one time $50 fee seemed like a good deal to me.
I'm not sure of the details of their plan, and I'd guess that it is available at every CompUSA. You'd just have to ask one of the store managers or someone that knows what they're talking about.
I am a sales Associate at a CompUSA is Eastern Washington and I am sorry to inform you the manager at that store should not have sold you that relacement plan, The fifty dollar plan covers cell phones yes but in the eyes of the T.A.P program the i300 is a PDA the price of the PDA Replacement is $99 for two years, also the PDA covers broken screens. The cell phone replacement does not.
If I were you I would return to that store and talk to either that manager or the Operations manager to get a verbal or written commitment that they will cover the phone in case of a problem.
You should be ok if the phone fails they will take care of you to save a customer however they will most likly not let you buy the phone replacement again on a new phone. However; if you break the phone, screen case or otherwise it is likely that unless that manager is there you will be out of luck.
So Unless you think that manager will be there for the full two years, (unlikely) you may want to get some sort of confermation.

Yup... I went to best buy today to try to get the phone for cheap. No go. However, the guy told me the exact same thing about the replacement plan. It's a pda not a phone.
I stopped by the store today and found the guy that sold me everything. He gave me a TAP (technolgy assurance program) brouchure. I'm going to go over this book tonight and see what it says. On my reciept, it shows "TAP 2YR C/I RPL CE" - so I think that translates into a 2 year Carry-In Repair Plan - not sure of the CE part. This looks like it covers printers (under $500), analog/digital cameras, camcorders, and flat screen monitors.
There is also a section in the book that covers PDA Replacement, but there is not a Cell Phone Replacement section, so it looks like I may have lucked out and received the PDA repair offering for the price of the Cell Replacement offering.
I still want to have the guy sign my reciept with the details.

Thats "Technology Assurance Program 2 Year Carry In Replacement Cell Phone"
We have specific coverages for each item,
there is one for PDAs, Cell Phones, Video/Sound Cards, Mass Storage, Modem, Networking, CRT Monitors.
Items like LCD Monitors, Dig Camera's, Camcorders also offer TAP, however these Items are repair plans where you turn them in and they pretend like their going to fix it and end up replaceing the unit after a while.
The book the guy gave you will not explain warranty info on Cell phones because when those books were printed CompUSA didnt sell phones. also the section on PDA's will say abuse is not covered by TAP however he can show you where the PDA replacement covers screen damage in the Black and red TAP Brochure the one that the salesmen cary around for pricing.
You could also check with the Operations Manager or The Sales Manager to conferm that even though the i300 is sold in the cell phone scetion of the store it is in the eyes of TAP a PDA,
I just want to warn you, this will probably mean very little to you, however CompUSA will not be happy when you phone "fails" and they have to eat the cost of the phone because they sold you the wrong plan. (CompUSA is reimbursed by a third party Insurance Company that owns the contracts on the warranties)

I want to know , what can you tell me now about Marty and
his phone ? Which he selling for $250 . Used phone ...
Do not trust people who switching to Treo 300 !!!
Sprint,
Your badgering really needs to stop, if not because its just plain annoying then at the minimum because its disrespectful. You've made your point that you do not like my price and it has been noted, now please kindly stop. It is my decision to set the price for my device and I have set it, end of story. So for the last time, out of common courtesy, please drop the matter.
I've called around and can't find the i300 anywhere. CompUSA (3 different stores) told me they don't even have the i300 in their computers. Does anyone have any idea where one could get an i300 for $199.00?

Thanks. Oh well... I guess I'll look at ebay. They're going for around $200 these days. The wait for the i330 is getting frustrating. And I have a feeling that when it comes out, $500 is going to feel like far too much to spend for it. Especially with the i500 coming out pretty soon after for a (most likely) similar price.
I was in the Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA Sprint store yesterday and two reps had not heard of the i330. One of them went into the back room and came back and said it would be out some time in January!
If I could buy an i300 for around $200, it would hold me over for 6 months until the next wave of phones were out, reviewed, and possibly price dropped a bit. If anyone has a suggestion on a place to look for a good deal on an i300, let me know.
