I have a powerbook G4 running os x and have been trying to use ir to sync. So far i have had mixed success with it. Syncing seems to work fine, except for software downloads. So far, I have not been able to add any software to my phone. (Good thing I have a pc at work). I've heard that there is an entourage conduit, but I haven't set it up yet. Try doing a search over at http://www.powerpage.org. I don't think that avantgo works yet either. I'd be interested to hear what other people are experiancing, especially if people aren't having these types of problems over usb. If usb works, I'll probably go out and buy an adapter for my cradle.

I'm running OK with OSX 10.1.4, Palm DT 4.0 and the Palm USB connectivity kit to get the i300 cradle hooked to my G4 tower. I've only had the phone for two days, so I haven't done a lot yet, but I already have an annoying problem. Syncing takes a few minutes, and I keep getting a message saying "This installer is not compatible with your device. Please contact the manufacturer for a compatible installer." The message is on the phone, so I guess the Palm OSX DT installer is trying to put an incompatible version of the app installer on the phone.

You can change the conduit setting for the 'Install' conduit to 'Do Nothing' instead of 'Install Files' - This will eliminate that annoying install and speed up your syncs. Of course, it won't install any files to your phone either! (You'll have to change the conduit whenever you want to load files.) But since I sync more often than I load files, this is a better choice until Samsung gets around to letting us update our Palm OS - Ha! Ouch! I think I hurt my spleen...

Entourage

I just downloaded the entourage conduit. I am also interested if any one had tried it? I'm wondering because I like the convenience of having the calendar with the email program but like the Palm desktop (I like the attachment ability - but wish the attachment program would translate better on the palm). Is there an ability to save the palm programs on the palm desktop for backup purposes if you use that conduit (like the old outlook syncs)?

And finally, all things being equal, what calendar program do you prefer using? Palm or Entourage? And why?

Incompatable install is the 3.5.2 update

The "incompatable device" message in my case was because the default installation of Palm Desktop for OS X includes a pile of OS updates (3.5, 3.5.1, 3.5.2, etc.).

The installer attempts to install any that are newer than the OS in the device, and the I300 can't eat the 3.5.2 update. My solution was simply to remove the file from the "Updates" folder in the Palm folder to a separate "Disabled Stuff" folder and the problem went away.

Also as a side note, I have had terrific success with the Palm USB/Serial dongle, but found most others to be unreliable, especially in terms of a second synch operation -- often had to unplug/replug the dongle, or sometimes reboot. This with a Keyspan and a "no-name" dongle.

Entourage Conduit *X*?

David, are you saying you have the X native Entourage Conduit?

as far as pims go, micro$ofts product is considerably more capable but has the drawback of being a microsoft product.

entourage conduit

The conduit from Microsoft was pulled. If you go back to Microsoft's 'MacTopia' site you'll see that the conduit is no longer available. Typical Microsoft release of a program that had major problems/bugs. Don't try it until they re-post it.
