Bye Bye, Folks.

It hasn't even been a year since I got my Saga.

It has had its ups and downs, it's good parts and it's bad parts, but now it's time to say goodbye.

One thing I can certainly say is this place has been a constant home for me in the last year. You've all been friendly and very helpful.

Come stop in at the DROID forums, sometime...

Off to play with my new toy...

Mickey

Went and spent about an hour with the Droids today... I haven't spent much time at all with the Android OS so I wanted to give it a fair shake.
I have to say, that I was fairly impressed.
I really did NOT like the Motorola... It felt big in my hand and I also felt that the build quality was not very high. I could easily picture the screen assembly working it's way loose from the keyboard assembly... not like it would fall apart, but where it would wiggle.
Plus it just wasn't nearly as smooth as the Eris. HTC has really done a fantastic job with the sense ui
Every review I have seen has declared the Eris a compromise... and maybe it is, but my experience today was that the Eris was just as responsive as the Moto, has a better on-screen keyboard, it feels great in your hand, and it's half the price...
So the moral of the story is... if you can live without the slider keyboard, then go with the Eris...
Side note: If you are at all considering jumping ship to another carrier in the next 2 years, then be sure to upgrade before the ETF goes up on the 15th.

edit:
One more note... If you are determined to go with the Moto then I heard a report that said you can get it at Sears for $149 out the door... no rebate involved... that's $50 cheaper than Verizon's price after rebate (it costs $300 up front at Verizon stores)

Just went Droid

I'm out as well. The Droid is smooth. My IT department won't support the exchange email synching, though the calendar synch works fine. Bu the browser is so sweet I'm just using the web mail. No other drawbacks that I've found yet. Thank you all for the help here and there.

I too picked up the droid yesterday to try it out. I'm not sure that I'm going to keep it though.

I'm completely loving the hardware. There's just nothing to complain about. It's as quick as a _______ PC. Some of the reviewers complain about a lag switching between the 3 home screens. I have no clue what they are talking about- clearly they never used Palm OS or Windows mobile- laughing.

The one hang up I have is it kind of blows for business use - for my specifics. The apps just aren't there. I've used good mobile messaging for years- it syncs your email, calendar, tasks, and notes- and in many ways is much better than exchange active sync. (for example EAS can't sync notes, and wont allow access to public folders).

At the moment Good is still beta'ing their android app, and I tried EAS but it just sucks. Can only get 30 days of email, no notes, and on the android OS I dont see how to sync tasks.

But the device and other apps are amazing. Google maps, contact merging, facebook, weather, anything I've tried besides the PIM stuff just rocks.

if Good can up there game and their released client matches what they do on winmo or POS then I'll be moving to andorid.

I am really NOT a fan of the slider form factor (I tried a winmo slider for 6+ months once) , but the OS is so far and away better than Winmo and the on screen keyboard is quite usable (when you turn on haptic feedback) that I can certainly live with it.
