which has FULL service where I work. I can't even send or receive phone calls/text messages for the close to 12 hours a day that I am there. Most of the day my phone sits at me desk since I can't use it.
I have no beef with anyone picking another carrier - to each his own- no need to bash anyone. But i am always amazed that the iPhone seems to be everyones goto no matter what phone they had. If one picked a front facing always there qwery keyboard phone like the treo or a saga or a blackberry, I dont see that switching to the keyboardless iPhone wouldn't be a major difference.
Well I decided to give Verizon another try. I talked to a very nice woman on Saturday who gave me a couple of options. I could take a refurb for Saga for free, or Touch Pro or Diamond for $170 if I wanted to stick with WinMo. She made no mention of an Omina or Ozone which I thought was funny. I told her that I had paid $200 for this phone 8 months ago and wasn't going to give Verizon anymore money. So she sent me out the Refurb'd Saga. She told me I would have it today but it in fact was delivered yesterday, midday. Kudos to Verizon on that. I got the phone home last night and swapped everything over. For the most part the phone was snappier. Coming out of hibernation pretty quick and such. And then started the first lock up 97 mins after taking ownership. From there it has been a blast, not. Now I get device.exe errors 1-3 times and hour. The signal quality has been as bad or worse than before. Just to rub it in my coworker called my phone, from an Iphone, standing next to me. My phone never rang. And I didn't get the voicemail till nearly an hour later when I walked near a window/door.
So I think this may be my last week with Verizon. My daughter has horrible food allergies. If my wife or her school call me I need to get the call. With this phone/signal I can't depend on it.
EDIT:Well I had another interesting conversation with a very friendly women from Verizon. I explained the situation with the new phone crashing all day long and they are sending me out another replacement phone. Does anyone know how many phones they will send out till they offer some other choice?

I'm on my third. Just called in a couple days ago and they're going to come out and check my areas signal & towers....bunch of bs its the phone, my main complaint to them was the signal strength and that my text messages never go through and i have to go into that stupid retry program every time.
But my phone hasn't been freezing up like it was with my orginal phone, maybe because I haven't installed any programs in fear that it would become completely unusable.
oh and listen to this one. I was trying to use my phone this weekend. Well after the eleventy billionth crash it finally seemed somewhat stable.
Then the calc program crashed.
You have got to be f'ing kidding me.
And to add insult to injury my replacement phone is being held at a local FedEx facility. It had gone out for delivery. But then they brought it back because it isn't "due" for delivery till tomorrow. Pretty much can't win.

Dude, I have deployed probably 40 Saga's at work and have not seen any of those type of crashing errors. (Most are still on the original firmware) but even the new ones don't have that happen. I did have the crazy signal crap for a while, but that seems to have cleared.
What are you using to sync your email? I assume you are not installing anything else initially.
yup. First the number 2 was missing then the thing crashed.
I got another replacement yesterday. I set up my email accounts and Google for my Exchange server for my contacts and that was it. 87 mins into the phone being operational I got my first device.exe failure. 2 hours and 17 mins into it I got my first shell32.exe failure. This combined with the fact that I have no service where I work and drop calls at least 4 times in my 50 min commute home makes me want to shoot this phone. And the fact that half the time it seems not to want to wake up when I need it. Oh and the whole text message retry thing makes me want to 460 volts to the contacts to see it sizzle.
I will be calling them again and demanding a cancellation of my contract. I just can't pay for something that I can't use 12+ hours a day.
On my treo-p I use to have issues with it being sensitive to exchange db problems...it would freek out all the time...2 or 3 replaced phones...some smashed in frustration. (Although I think the treo may have caused the problems)
Anyway...The folks who repaired the db first storage group had mentioned to me that the win mob os was just quirker and testy when the db gets torn up ?
The amount of money on epuipement and time wasted on the Saga hasn't been totalled up yet but I am guessing it way the heck more than the $105 cancellation fee going to verizon.
Tell me about wasted time. Just got back from a trip, on my lunch break, to a Verizon store to inquire about the Multi-Fru program. After being told it would be 45 mins to speak to anyone I asked to see a manager. After 15 mins I speak to the manager who tells me no way would I get the phone exchanged.
Canceling tonight I think. Just can't deal with this anymore.
