Can't send text messages anymore

If I attempt to go into the Text Messages app and create a new text message, it hangs after I've typed in the first few characters of the message. It hangs so badly that it actually hangs up the phone and I have to soft reset. Even trying to open Task manager (which I have on the start menu) takes several minutes -- the text message app seems to be using 100% of cpu -- and any attempt to "end task" the text message app just hangs the phone as well.

I never had this problem before the ROM update -- I suspect there is a connection. I have no other text-message-related software installed other than what comes by default.

Is anybody else seeing this?

Even worse than I thought ... it looks like my ability to type in text is what is broken. I tried just creating a new "Note" and it exhibits the exact same problem. The phone hangs after I've entered a few characters' worth of text.

And this happens from everywhere -- even from the Opera browser where I just tried to update my facebook status ... kind of makes the phone useless.

So it looks like nobody else has seen anything like this.

I was able to resolve it (for now) by doing a complete hard reset. I'm now in the process of reinstalling/configuring everything. Hopefully it won't recur.
