I got it to work with Google maps in ~ 1 minute.

selected use gps

then: menu>options>GPS Settings...

set manually:

com9

9600

so far outside I've been connected to between 4-8 satellites

and inside 1 or none

outside it is pretty quick once connected

I live in the Chicago metro area for the record

Make sure start menu>settings>phone>services>GPS is set to location on

I have Bing working with GPS Intermediate Driver. It does take 30-60 seconds to start tracking. I also found the GPS-test app GPS Test 1.04 Software for Windows Mobile/Pocket PC - Pdatopsoft.com, which someone else on this forum pointed to very helpful in making sure the GPS is working and finding satellites.

Ok so I am trying that GPS test app. What does it mean when it stays at "GPS Starting Up" for over 10 minutes, and you can't get a consistent lock on any satelites?

if it sticks at the yellow dot with starting up- I'm pretty sure your gps isn't unlocked.

double check your location preference.

Stupid me, i had it working then it just stopped. (hence I started the thread- laughing) I didn't realize that hard resets (I had to do a bunch to get goodlink to update) reset the location setting to 911 only.

the icon for 911 only on the dialer screen is a circle with crosshairs. When you have it open for lbs services it's the circle with crosshairs with the "talking bars" next to it.

No luck while on GSM while overseas

I am in Poland, loving the $1.99 a minute voice/data rates.

GPS options are not availible in the settings, phone options while in global/GSM mode.

Oh well I will try it when I am back in the USA..
