Dropping calls or am I hangin up?

I've been having issues with calls randomly dropping in areas that I've never had problems with Verizon signals before. Before I throw my phone against the wall, could I be accidentally hanging up?

My screen stays on during calls and I'm wondering if I'm somehow brushing the "End" button on the screen. I'm hoping there is a simple solution that I'm overlooking.

If the screen is not either turned off with the top right power button or locked after the call is started you can brush up against all sorts of stuff on the touch screen. It's a real PITA...maybe with this new update auto lock on a call may happen ??

if you turn the screen off and a reminder or some other item turns the lcd back on and it's not locked you can then brush up on the LCD in the wrong spot and do all sorts of things w/o your knowing.

Thanks for the top power button tip. This is my 1st pda phone so I'm used to the power button also being the end button.

How do I lock the screen only? I've tried holding down the lock button on the LH side during a call, but this only activates the PIN password lock the next time I power down. I can still press soft keys after I press and hold the lock key during a call.

Have you done a *228 option 2 to update your tower info? Over the last several months Verizon has been merging Alltel towers with their network and probably turning off towers in areas where they have too many...

Maybe that could be the issue? Update your tower info and see if that helps.

Yeah, I've been updating the prl at least once a month. I'm not sure how much overlap there is in my area though. I'll be installing the firmware update tomorrow. Looks like there are some changes to the phone side included in it so maybe that will address some of the signal issues, too.

I think you need to go under settings...lock...deselect "prompt if deviced unused for"

This will lock the phone...you will nto be able to do anything w/o unlocking it during a call.

Kind of a PITA but it seems to be the best options they have for this phone. My old Palm treos and one blackberry easily handled this issue during calls.

Ok, that probably won't work for me then. I'm tied into my work Exchange server which requires the PIN lock so I don't think it will stay unselected. I guess I can try, but it might reset at some point.

Thanks.
