I was able to format somehow, but can't get into the os.

Going to VZW early tomorrow.
The instructions say use a 32-bit OS only.

The Samsung website has been hid hard by all us Saga users eagerly downloading the update. Keep trying with a good fast connection. I failed to download about 5 times before I gave up and did it the next day at work (better network).

Has anyone noticed any stability issues? I have seen several 'cannot start program X due to low memory' type errors, and even a few where the app hiccups (doesnt actually crash always) but triggers the error reporting tool. Anyone else seeing this kind of thing? So far I am only running software I had before the upgrade.

How did you even get it to start with Vista 64bit??? Mine tells me MDC is not running and then stops the install process.

There are some pretty large audio (mp3) files in the Windows root directory now that I don't remember seeing below. Some space can be gained by moving or deleting them. Anybody remember how to delete a file that's marked as ROM? I seem to remember doing this way back in the day when I was tweaking my WM Treo....

Kinda working again. Trying the update again on an x86 machine. I have no idea how it ran on my x64 machine, but it did.

Edit: Currently flashing - no problems yet. For whatever reason, the phone felt very sluggish when I was setting it up.

I can confirm that the image refresh issue experienced with most games does still exist. Tried to install Arvale Short Tales...

The flashing was successful, however, the top power button will not turn the display or phone on. I have to use the data cable to turn it on, and any button press to turn on the display.

Called VZW and spoke with them for about 74 minutes to get my unlock code... took them 4 different techs to do it. They were using the old firmware and trying to have me put in #7465625*638 to update it.

Unhappy No USB following update...

Flashed fine, but now I have no USB support... No activesync, the device doesn't show up at all. I don't get a chime when I plug in either... I'll see if the device recognizes a charger even... I redid a hard reset with no luck.

I figured out the USB problem... close out the installer.... As far as Sprite, I'm currently running after a "merge level 2" restore. Level 3 knocked the phone radio out of commission.

::edit:: no dice with level 2 either, it goofs up the new "global" menu, and I can't get the GPS to activate. I'm just gonna reinstall everything - it's worth it

I did a back up with spb back up then did a restore. It worked after but seemed a little sluggish. I did a clean install of everything after a hard reset and it seems better now

Yeah, I did a clean install also. I use SkTools Backup, and after restoring post update all the apps were there but acted like they weren't registered. Every dll called by every app raised the 'do you want to run this' alert dialog. So after hitting yes like 10 times I gave up and hard reset.

Unless you have access to the original installer (which only verizon might have) you don't. The old OS does not exisat on your phone any longer.

after about two days i do notice better battery performance.

It also feels like the device is performing better. Very snappy. Though the only thing i have running extra is Office Communicator.

I'll agree with that. We just need to find a way to free up some memory. Gotta get rid of these darn useless ROM audio files.

They probably aren't shipping units with the new rom yet.. so you may be able to get a replacement sent with the old rom or check your local store.. otherwise you're s.o.l
